Halo 3 action figures coming from McFarlane Toys

It appears that Joyride Studios is no longer set to produce more Halo action figure goodness for the release of Halo 3, because McFarlane Toys has announced that they will be doing just that.

The line-up includes characters from the game such as Master Chief (check out the attached prototype photo), Cortana, Brutes, Jackals and Grunts, as well as vehicles like Warthogs, Ghosts and the anticipated Brute Chopper. For collectors and gamers alike, this is good news, with McFarlane’s history of quality and highly-detailed craftsmanship. The bad news? These won’t hit stores until Spring 2008.

Society of the Ancients

After yesterday’s e-mail about looking for “signs” and “keepers of the flame” it looks like things are starting to pick up a notch with new findings.

First, there have been some developments at halo3.com, which the links in yesterday’s e-mail were presumably meant to drive people to. There you can find a new comic, specifically at halo3.com/comic.

Then, a new web site called The Society of the Ancients was found, which clearly shows new evidence with the symbol above AND a link to a new URL.

This URL was also found in the last page in the Halo comic (that also show both the repeating symbol) as a series of numbers, which when translated into URL form lead to http://206.16.223.65/

At this address, there’s a countdown leading up to some time next week. It looks like that could be the reveal of something even deeper.

Also, I’ve created a special group just for this here at Podtacular.com. Everybody’s welcome to join and take part in sharing their ideas, links, etc.. Time to put on your foil hats and watch all the pieces come together!

Episode 116: Interview Frenzy

This show is kind of a variety show with a series of Halo-related interviews. First we interview Logan Payne, the lone wolf Halo 2 Vista player. Then we have some interesting interviews with some folks from Tied the Leader, 2old2play and Halo Unyielding. Thanks to Lancelot59 for this week’s pod art. Show’s about an hour long, so settle in with your headphones and spartan laser and get listening!

History Circling Back Upon Us!

I just received this email this morning, and it clearly looks like what’s becoming another alternate reality game revolving around Halo 3.

HISTORY CIRCLING
BACK UPON US.

The gears of the Universe spin further
and further apart.
Ever greater grows the gulf between souls,
And distance gives false hope of safety
But for the grim tidings this messenger bears:

The enemy is almost upon us

Closing in from all sides,
Moving faster than the light
it snuffs with its passage,
Time echoes with the news of destruction.
History winding back upon itself.

Waves of an army march this way in unison, Suffering and corruption are its battle cries.
For I have known this darkness
and felt its embrace once before-
Horror best laid to rest

Yet a Journey must commence

Look for the signs, the keepers of the flame.
They will lead you to war, and perhaps, to victory.

While the fine folks over at HushedCasket have already built a fine summary of happenings to date, it looks like this is just the tip of the iceberg if the “I Love Bees” ARG was any indication of what to expect.

That said, there could very well be a tip-off that comes in the form of an obscure, nearly-hidden detail in any Halo 3 related material (like the brief flash of a URL in a trailer). So, if ARGs are your thing, or you just missed out on I Love Bees, keep your eyes open and be on the lookout for clues!
