Fight Like a Girl and get some Extra Life THIS WEEKEND

Two major fundraising events are going on this weekend and we hope you are participating by either playing or donating!

One is Extra Life which is a 24-hour gaming marathon starting 8AM Saturday in your time zone and ending 8AM Sunday. You can make up time if you can’t quite complete the whole thing. Extra Life is the brainchild of Doc from Sarcastic Gamer and supports the Texas Children’s Hospital’s cancer research. If you sign up you have to gather per-hour donors so at this point it may be best to donate to someone else’s account and play with them (don’t leave your friends who are doing this lonely!) Use this thread to organize your Podtacular friends!

Also, Fight Like a Girl (FLAG) is a Halo 3 tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The registration fees go to support breast cancer research, specifically the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the National Cervical Cancer Coalition (NCCC). Hopefully you remember “Zoom” aka Tasha who guest hosted on Episode 181. She and “The DonWan” aka Kari from The CaveGirls have organized this event. Registrations are now closed for everything except the “Play with Bungie” event so get in fast or just donate!

The third installment of Pod TV’s ODST Achievement Guide features three more achievements. Each for 5G for a total of 15G, this guide tells you how to get Stunning, Trading Down and Wraith Killer. Stunning and Trading Down can be received on other levels, but Wraith Killer has to be gotten on Uplift Nature Reserve playing as Dutch.

Podtacular 206: Halo Wars Campaign Round-up

With the drop of ODST, we quickly wrapped up some unfinished business with Halo Wars and did a quick guide for the last 8 levels of Halo Wars. I think GLewis and I decided on “Tank-and-Spank” as our strategy, while AceofSpadesCard shook his head in disbelief and Lance continued to complain about the play value of Halo Wars as an RTS. We covered the levels in order of course since we didn’t have many submissions at all: Ander’s Signal, The Flood, Shield World, Cleansing, Repairs, Beachhead, Reactor and Escape. So Halo Wars campaign is done for now. We may visit the multiplayer someday (if we ever stop imagining and drooling over Reach). Enjoy.

Everyone probably has these already, but in case you haven’t, I’ve whipped up a nice little guide to the first 5 achievements: Heal Up, Dark Times, Boom Headshot, Tourist, and Junior Detective. You can get them all within the first 5 minutes of playing and are really easy to get.

ODST is here and we are all excited what Bungie brought us in their latest. Campaign is a blast, and Firefight just makes it that much better.
