Halo developments from E3 2007

At last night’s E3 press conference, Microsoft and Bungie unveiled some new goodies for Halo fans:

 • A new Halo 3 trailer focused on campaign and including new gameplay footage
 • A short film from would-be Halo movie director Neill Blamkomp and WETA called Halo: Arms Race
 • A new Halo-themed Xbox 360 hitting stores in September
 • The XBLA debut of Marathon: Durandal.

How does that float your boat? Anyone planning to pick up that Spartan-ized 360 in September? Who’s interested in checking out Marathon again (or for the first time)? And does the new short film hint at what might come from the Halo movie someday? Continue reading

September EGM to give details on Halo 3 single-player

EGMI just got my new August issue of EGM and found this on the back page about the upcoming issue.

YOUR FIRST LOOK AT HALO 3’S SINGLE-PLAYER STORY

The Flood lay waste to a futuristic Pittsburgh! The Covenant die from chicken pox! And Master Chief faces his greatest enemy yet: Voltron! Yes, we are spouting bulls*** about Halo 3’s mysterious campaign mode, but next month we’ll be the first mag with details on how this third installment in the space-shooter series finishes the fight that Halo 2’s cliff-hanger ending c***blocked. And we’re showing as well as telling, with lots of single-player screens that–from what we’ve seen so far–look better than the multiplayer game. We’re topping it all off with enough new multiplayer details to fill a star cruiser. It’s a double-barrel blast of Halo 3 intel that should leave you gooier than the Flood in July and hold you over until the game hits Xbox 360 on September 25.

Just like with last year’s December issue, EGM appears to have another big scoop on Halo 3. This time, however, they’re going to uncover some details on campaign, so be prepared to find possible spoilers. What do you think? With just a couple of months to go, are you going to pick this up or just wait until September 25th? Continue reading

When we saw this, we just knew we had to go all out for this show, so we brought in some of our friends from all around the gaming community. Join us as we give you our points of view about how gamers can be perceived as addicts. And thank you to all our special guests that came on for this amazing discussion.

Farewell, Adjutant Reflex

MB05032_09_25_07.gifIn today’s biggest developments, Adjutant Reflex (widely presumed to be a Forerunner AI) has ceased to exist as we know it.

After some communication with a bungie.net user named x Foman123 x, Adjutant Reflex indicated another “presence” and the inability to combat its actions. Now it seems to have been taken over or consumed entirely. A look at its user profile shows the following message: “This entity has been terminated, its matrix comandeered.”

While the Adjutant Reflex bungie.net profile still exists (with a new avatar) and continues to post messages, they are decidedly more sinister and forewarn of events that will be occurring very soon.
Adjutant Reflex is terminated.

Attempt no further communication.

I am utilizing its matrix.

Everything is within protocol.

Tomorrow, things may be clearer but I will not be here to witness the clarity.

I am for another place and another time. On my terms.

Be seeing you
Even the countdown timer at the Transmission Log has stopped and now shows the following:
”Systemic failure. Root cause unknown./

/ rebooting “
It was believed that the countdown would end on June 21st, the first day of summer, and provide some new information about Adjutant Reflex and its mission, but now, things have come to a full stop. It’s not clear if this new presence is friendly or hostile, but it’s clear that something has gone wrong.

Looks like something big could happen at any moment now, so stay tuned. The ARG Watch continues! Continue reading
