Podtacular Rec E vs. GCN Forums Clan Match

After being delayed twice and then changing the time enough times to give a calendar a headache, Rec E finally took on the boys over at the GCN forums in a five game series. Podtacular Recreation E started off with a strong showing with a full roster of eight players in the lobby while Gamercast Network had four. Eventually they got six in but couldn’t get the eight they promised so two latecomers had to leave our party. Duff 3c, the GCN team leader talked a big game but unfortunately couldn’t make it since he had to attend the Kane and Lynch community event. He handed over team leader to herroan09, a level 41 who talked an even bigger (but friendly) game on the boards and got the hype up.

Was their play as big as their words? Read on in the forums Big thanks to the GCN forumgoers for some great games.

Podtacular vs Bungie Humpday Challenge: The Sequel!

Well, it looks like it’s time to rekindle a friendly rivalry and go head to head with none other than Bungie themselves for another Humpday Challenge!

If you recall (and here’s a link if you don’t), Podtacular flew the glorious flag of victory after beating Bungie back in June 2006. It was a hard and well-fought battle, but now we’re back to do it again in Halo 3! Wish those members of the Podtacular community that will be playing tonight luck!

UPDATE: Well, we can say we started off great, but they got the better of us and things eventually slid downhill as Bungie beat us 2 games to 1. What can we say, it was fair and square (except for one Mr. Luke Smith putting the kick-boot to one of our players during the second game) and above all, it was fun and we definitely look forward to rematch sometime in the future. That and some Team Bubblebath!

UPDATE 2: Here are the final game results from bungie.net:
Game 1 | Game 2 | Game 3

PRO TIP: Download the videos of the matches and watch the action! Just click on one of the games above, go to the Assets tab, and click to download one of the videos of the match.

They’ll make you laugh, they’ll make you cry. And go ahead, make fun…we’re big boys, we can take it.

Podtacular’s New Adopted Theme Music

It’s time to give credit where credit’s due. Many of you have asked about the new theme music for Podtacular. It turns out it was made by Prototype Raptor as a remix for Overclocked Remix but somehow didn’t make their cut and is not featured in the Halo section of their site. It’s called Halo: Groove and I think the song is way better than some of the other stuff they have in the Halo section, but I digress. More info can be found in this forum thread on OCRemix and you can download the song in it’s entirety here. Thanks Prototype for making such an awesome song!

Episode 133: Crow’s Nest Campaign Show

This week we have some cool tips, tricks, and strategies on how to get the highest metagame score on Crow’s Nest, the second mission in Halo 3. We also talk about how to get the hidden skulls in this level. And of course we cover more pressing matters like handlebar mustaches, third nipples and the infamous Barbara Streisand video game. Our guest this week is the notorious Lord Gideon from Praetoria Guard, one of the longest running Halo clans out there. Pod art this week comes from spoofmaniac and is available in it’s full glory here. This is also the first show where we play some short ads from our sponsor, the US Navy. Strap on your earphones and buckle up, because it’s about to get freaky up in here!

Kane and Lynch releases early, Podtacular is there

Word comes today that the upcoming Kane and Lynch: Dead Men from Eidos has been pushed up to November 13th, now scheduled to hit streets a full week ahead of schedule. via Xbox360Fanboy

Why is this important to us at Podtacular, you ask? As it turns out, our friends at the GamerCast Network have arranged a special community day event on November 8th and our very own Dialpex will be attending, along with others like Godfree from Gamertag Radio and Jay from Uncle Gamer. There they’ll be getting a hands-on look at the game’s multiplayer mode and a preview of the single player campaign, and will be reporting back with their impressions and feedback. So, if you’ve had an eye on Kane and Lynch, be sure to check out all the GCN coverage in the coming week!
