Around The Ring is back! Finally! Once again we’re late on the post, and once again it’s all Dust Storms’ fault. This week we continue the streak of terrible audio with the loss of my headset, and debate the pros and cons of Computers and Consoles as gaming platforms. Guess what the deciding factor was? Dropping in to guest host from Respawn Radio is Lono (pronounced “lawno”), Facehead from the Podtacular community, and everyone’s returning favorite: TheCrazyCommie! It was quite an episode, and made for a good start. As well you get the hear the new theme which…uh…well…hopefully you’ll like it more than I did!

New Mythic Map Screenshots and Gameplay

For those of you not frantically drooling over the new screens or videos yet, several websites have release reviews, screens and videos of the new Mythic maps that are going to come out in September with Halo 3: ODST. Podtacular 200: 4 Year Anniversary

This show was a huge success, especially for those who came and listened to us on our livestream channel while we broadcasted live. Unfortunately, the quality is a little clipped. For some reason, my recording software didn’t want to record until I updated it, so it didn’t record the skype chat. I had to use the audio from the video stream, and apparently, it got clipped a lot and no one even told us in the chat that it was too loud and getting clipped, so what I have for you is that. Sorry about the quality, but I’m sure you will enjoy the content. We had quite a few guests show up and a few that didn’t: Founder of Podtacular: Foo Mo Jive, First Co-host: SpelChek (splee cheeks), Around the Ring Host: Lancelot, Old Website Administrator: CapnKrunk, and Backup Host: ChuckieJ. We really thank these guys for taking time to come and chat with us. For those who were there live, we deeply appreciate you tuning in. I think we had up to 30 people come and join us at LiveStream. Halo 2 or bigger friends list?

Apparently the REAL reason we cannot have larger friends list is that it would break Xbox Live play for Halo 2 (and other less played Xbox games). Patrick Klepek from G4 says:

The continued community support behind Halo 2 is the only reason Microsoft hasn’t ditched the lingering ancient Xbox Live architecture, a high-level Microsoft source confirmed to me late last week.

The source also says that a patch is not possible, or else they would have done it long ago. So when to move on and leave Halo 2 in the dust? That decision may be in the hands of gamers. If online play of Halo 2 continues at the level it is now, especially after the release of ODST, Microsoft may have no choice but to keep Live functioning for Halo 2. However, if it drops off, that may be the opening they need to go ahead with the bigger friends lists. So what is your priority? Is the fact we will soon have a Midship version in Halo 3 a deciding factor for you?

Podtacular Episode 200 Livestream Success

Thanks to everyone who came to the live show last night! At max, we had 30 viewers but there have been over 8000 visits to the stream in the past 24 hrs. The 200th episode is currently looping on the livestream. So you can go relive all the crazy moments anytime. Guests & Hosts included Foo mo jive, Spelchek, CapnKrunk, ChuckieJ, Lancelot and of course Dust Storm and GLewis. Also, there were a few call-ins, an epic “Keep on Fraggin'” by Rice Snak Rozz and the community, and a “moment montage” by Lilkuke. Audio version coming later this week.

Podtacular 200 Live

So we had a big discussion about all the news that came out, especially about Halo Legends: Chuckie will feel the pain.
