In the past decade, the gaming scene has changed dramatically. We saw the introduction of the Xbox and Halo, and the main competitors were Nintendo and Sony Entertainment. Graphics has had a dramatic improvement, 3D gaming has become the norm, and game music has evolved from 8-bit to orchestra and all-out rock. For this episode, we venture into our pasts of gaming over the past decade and visit some memorable moments. Former host JVB joins us along with guests ChuckieJ and AceofSpadesCard. We have some nice commentary from ChuckieJ as he goes through his list of big games and Brent has his Top 5 pick of the decade which will accompany this post shortly. Original XBOX DLC Revived

Microsoft has decided to put the original XBOX DLC back up on the marketplace. This means the Halo 2 DLC is back up and awaiting your download. We’re planning on doing a big event of some kind near the end of the original service cut off, so while you’re at it, pick up a copy of Halo 2 if you don’t have it.

Halo 2 Xbox Multiplayer switches off April 15

It’s true. The big news we’ve been wondering about and to some degree dreading for months is finally confirmed. Xbox 1 Live Multiplayer will be disabled on April 15, 2010. This is because some features that the Xbox Team wants to add to LIVE are simply incompatible with Original Xbox games.

We know that one of these is bigger friend lists. For myself, as more and more great games come out I want more people, some for Halo, some for MW2, some for Bioshock 2, some for Marvel Ultimate Alliance, etc.

What else is in store? Very little has been revealed. But what we do know is Halo 2 and all other Xbox 1 games will no longer be playable on LIVE after April 15. Offline play will still work.

Podtacular, in its role as the Unofficial Halo Universe Podcast, will undoubtedly hold several Halo 2 multiplayer events as we send off the game that single-handedly made Xbox Live what it is today. Discuss this news in our forums, meet up with Halo 2 gamers, and stay tuned for events! Betcha can’t stick it!
