Podtacular 250: Defiant Review and Random Frags

Shownotes
The community has spoken and we have decided to go back to a weekly podcast with longer shows. Our little experiment died fatally and now we’re back in full force where we belong: in your ears. Going off of recent news, we are talking about the Defiant Maps that were released and the Random Frags we didn’t get to read last time. No special guests this week and Brent is missing in action for this show. Enjoy

Defiant Give-away

We’ve managed to get a batch of Defiant Map Pack codes to give-away on Monday when the maps get released. We have a few ways you can get your hands on one, and you will want your hands on this map pack:

  • Follow Podtacular on Twitter for a chance to answer trivia questions related to Podtacular and Halo.  Announcements when you can win codes will be announced there.
  • Between now and Monday at Noon Eastern, we will take submissions of Score Attack games in Gruntpocalypse and Mythic Attack.  For each of those two gametypes, we will give away a code to the high scorers of each.  Submit a link to the game on B.Net to duststorm@podtacular.com with the Subject: Defiant Giveaway: <gametype>.  One entry per gamertag.  Multiple entries will void submission.
  • We will also be taking submissions from the Competitive playlist looking for the best kill streaks in multiplayer.  We are looking for both types of kill streaks: multi-kills and killing sprees.  We are looking for the amount and style in which you get them.  Clip your best multi-kill or killing spree and upload it to your fileshare.  Recommend it to me over XBL at POD Dust Storm or send a link to duststorm@podtacular.com with the Subject: Defiant Giveaway: Kill Streaks.
  • Follow Podtacular on Facebook for any additional codes we may have for missing letter codes.
  • Watch YouTube for a special review of the Defiant Map Pack where, if we have additional codes, will have hidden codes embedded in the video.

Depending on the amount of codes we finally get, we may give codes to runner ups, more twitter trivia, and via the additional options we have listed above.  Twitter codes will be sent out over Twitter Messages and e-mail submissions will be sent over e-mail to the winners.  Good luck to everyone.

Podtacular 249: Podtacular Update

After nearly a month of no podcast being put out, we decided to come out of our shell and talk about some of the new things in the Halo-verse that have been appeared since our last meeting. We had the announcement of the Defiant Map Pack, which falls in two weeks. There were also some updates to Halo Waypoint that provides an interesting perspective with your Halo: Reach stats. There was also the Joystiq announcement about a confirmed(?) Halo: CE remake. We will be having shows to follow up on each one of these topics separately. Enjoy

Tweet My Six says Goodbye

vaporofnuance, creator of the Twitter service Tweet My Six has announced on the service’s blog that today will be the last day the service will run due to the time and cost of the project. Tweet My Six was a Twitter service that would post your game stats, completed challenges and other Halo: Reach related stats tied to your gamertag and posted to your twitter account. I know a few of us here at Podtacular have used this service religiously and we are sad to see it go. If you have used the service at any point, please go thank him by posting a tweet to @TweetMySix.

Original Halo Remake Confirmed

The rumor has been out for a while now that the new adopters of the Halo franchise would be making a Halo: Combat Evolved remake. Well, today those rumors come to rest as 343 has confirmed the development of the remake of the game that kicked off the Xbox. There are still lots of little pieces that we don’t know about the game that could make or break it. According to Joystiq, the remake will not run off of the Reach engine but by something being put together by Saber Interactive. Rumors of the confirmed rumor are that the remake will essentially be a graphics makeover with HDTV and 3DTV support with online co-op.
