October 5th premiered the live-action series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. The series starts off with Colonel Thomas Lasky receiving the distress call from Cortana that was transmitted out at the end of Halo 3. We flash back to Lasky’s time at Corbulo Academy of Military Science as a cadet and see first hand the trials he is going through. His feelings about the civil war with the Insurrectionists and disregard for the chain of command has put tension between him and the rest of his squad. While he struggles through the academy, with his mother’s and brother’s military records hanging over his head, he is also experiencing drastic side effects of cryo training. Will Lasky find the strength and resolve to make it through the academy? Enjoy

Podtacular 315: FLOOD!

Judging by the title of this show, you can probably conjure a guess that there’s flood involved in this episode, in which case you’re right. This week’s bulletin features many things including details about the new Flood mode in War Games, including all possible multiplayer medals you can earn for the game mode. Among the flood of information, the final two maps have been revealed though YouTube videos: Abandon, which is a new mid-sized map great for 4v4 games and Meltdown, which is vaguely familiar to Ice Fields from Halo: PC. We have a trailer for the Mantis as well featuring all the functions, including an interesting stomp animation. Finally, for all of you audiophiles out there, there is a remix contest going on with some pretty nice prizes that you can participate in. If you haven’t gotten a chance to the latest Sparkcast either, we hit the major points regarding weapons, armor abilities, armor mods, and vehicles. Enjoy

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn – Episode 1

Today featured the premiere of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, a story about a cadet: Thomas Laskey and his struggle through Corbulo Academy. The comradery with his fellow cadets along with his feelings about the fight with the Insurrectionists puts him in an uncomfortable position, especially with his mother’s and brother’s reputation to live up to.

Podtacular 314: Halo 4 is Golden

Just when we thougth we covered everything the weekend had to offer, EuroGamer drops more Halo 4 goodies for us. We’ve got a glimpse of yet another two maps and a new game mode that was leaked earlier last week. The new map Complex is what you would expect: a big Forerunner complex surrounded my some amazing scenery. On that map we got our first look at the new Flood Mode, which is 343i’s renovation of Infection. Ragnarok is a remake of the Halo 3 map Valhalla and on that map, the Mantis, which is the big mech, is playable as a vehicle. The Prometheans Weaponry video was released in this week’s bulletin to show off all six weapons. Links are provided in the shownotes for the first time, so look there to see the stuff we’re talking about. Enjoy

Podtacular 313: Mediasplosion

This weekend presented us with a dump truck load of Halo 4 information. Whether it’s Campaign or War Games you’re after, there is information in here for everyone. We have some gameplay from the first and third missions of Halo 4, and if you were worried about it containing spoilers, you can put those fears to rest. Go watch the videos cause there’s nothing spoilerific about it. Spartan Ops gameplay footage showed us some vehicle combat in wide open spaces, showing off the increasing diversity of this brand new experience. And what would a news drop be without Multiplayer info. We got our first look at a new map: Solace and a new gametype: Dominion.
