Podtacular 411: Rumble Rabble

The New York Toy Fair has wrapped up and we saw some really cool toys, figures and swag get shown off. To help cover some of the Mega Bloks detail, (which I’m personally interested in) we had HaloFanForLife drop by the show to go over some additional details on the sets. We also go over a few extra things from Crowded Coop that we didn’t cover on lasts show and how much your wallet will hurt after this year. In addition to the toy fair news, we have this week’s latest Halo Bulletin discussing the upcoming matchmaking playlist rotation for Medal Madness on March 3rd. An update to the Xbox One version of Spartan Assault is also coming to fix some stability issues.

Podtacular 410: Toy Affair

It just so happens that the rumor mill never sleeps and is never without its crazy side. We mentioned on our last show how Steve Downes confirmed the existence of Halo 2 Anniversary, or so we thought. Since then, IGN has reached out and received some clarification that Downes was simply making a statement based on what people have rumored on the internet, but that’s not all there is to it. We made a post about IGN’s findings yesterday and encourage everyone to go out and develop your own opinion, but we voice ours during the show. In other news, the New York Toy Fair started this week and we have seen some pretty cool things that any Halo fan will want to get their hands on. We’ve just seen our first glances at McFarlane figures, Mega Bloks sets, and other swag goodness.

Halo 2 Anniversary “Confirmation” Debunked

Just as quickly as our hopes were lifted high with the announcement of Halo 2 Anniversary, it’s been debunked over at IGN and clarified by Steve Downes, who originally made the comment on the interview we mentioned over at Game Zone. In the Game Zone article, Steve Downes said “I think you may be ahead of yourself on H5. I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2.” After the interview was released, IGN reached out to Steve Downes and received the following: “What I said was: ‘I think you’re ahead of yourself on H5. I have read some things on line that you can look forward to a H2 anniversary edition maybe this year, but I have no official information one way or the other.’ I was just mentioning some of the things I had read online about Halo 2. I have no idea if there will be an anniversary edition and didn’t mean to leave that impression.”

However, IGN obtained a copy of the email interview between Steve Downes and Game Zone and indeed the statement that was posted in the original interview was the exact phrase that was used. This of course leaves questions to whether or not Steve Downes was approached by Microsoft to correct his statement after the fact or if he truly was basing his statement on the assumption of rumors scattered across the internet. Whatever the case, we are still waiting on an official statement from Microsoft, but it the suspicions keep building, and while we don’t like to talk rumors all that much, it seems recent news has almost eliminated rumor all-together and we’re just waiting on an official announcement to finally come out.

Podtacular 409: I Need an Anniversary

If you haven’t been living under a rock for the last 24 hours, then you would have heard about the upcoming Steve Downes interview. If you have been living under a rock, why are you under that rock? Come out already, unless you’re snowed in, in which case, carry on. In an interview GameZone.com did with Steve Downes, they mention that our beloved Chief confirmed the release of Halo 2 Anniversary this year with Halo 5 being pushed back for the next (out now). There is still no official work from Microsoft or 343 Industries on the matter, however. Team heavies has been a lovely addition to the matchmaking experience for the last two weeks, but it’s time to say adieu and welcome Big Rumble detailed in this week’s Halo Bulletin.

Steve Downes Confirms Halo 2 Anniversary Release This Year

Halo 2 Multiplayer
In an interview with Game Zone, the voice of Master Chief confirms the release of Halo 2 Anniversary this later this year with Halo 5 being released in the following year. He told Game Zone “I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5. I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2.” To many Halo fans, this is a sigh of release as Halo 5 gets another full year of production and gives people some nostalgia for a game that helped define the Halo experience. Tune into episode 409 where we will voice our thoughts and opinions on this announcement. We still haven’t seen an official from 343 Industries or Xbox yet.

Podtacular 408: Heavies Go Boom

This week on the podcast, we are left rumor-less as the Halo 2 Anniversary gets a little more weight behind it on the social networking front, but nothing substantial. With that said, we still had Team Heavies hit the matchmaking system this week along with the Xbox 360 release of Spartan Assault last week. Results from last weekend’s Spartan Bowl stats are up on this week’s Halo Bulletin along with some Valentine’s Day preparation and poll for the next Community voted gametype in matchmaking for Big FFA Rumble.
