Halo 3 beta: Phase one!

introductions

Hey guys, this is the ironicpear. I think in the Halo 3 beta, they are
going to be showing everything they showed in the 1up interview, there
might even be some added features like the brute ghost. After looking at
the pictures in iraq (of the alpha), you can see that the pictures are
crisp and clean, and there is a guy in a mongoose. I think that they will
have 3 maps, Snowbound, Valhalla, and High Ground, and maybe a fourth to
spike some peoples interests. They may even reveal the identity of the “x
button”. As far as the halo commercials go, they might have the “shield
grenade” thing that covers up M.C. I think the beta will be awesome!
Thanks guys and keep on fraggin’ trucks.

alpha builds like halo 3 beta? brute ghost? New vehicles? 3 maps? Favorite so far? Shield grenade? New weapons? Game types?

frankie on cover system: crouch! mysterious x button and meter at top of screen?

hi foo mo, JVB, and guest host(s)

Can I just say that is it just me or is it all underage kids getting a
success with the invites? these kids shouldnt even be trying to get in,
its ridiculous, when is a child, who goes to school, have time to help out
bungie with bugs, glitches, exploits, etc?

if only bungie read the posts on osme of these sites and cancelled the
pre-pubescent kids’ chance.

Sorry for the rant, but it really annoys me when people, who would help
out bungie, don’t get the chance to.

random people getting invites in phase one is pissing a lot of people off. some people haven’t gotten the first email yet, we’re confused on whether we still have a chance to get in for the next few days

hey podtacular its marooner here and my thoughts for the halo 3 beta is
that well knowing bungie, their not going to let to much info out but i
think they would do somthing along the lines of a small level that has
nothing to do with the actuall campaign when the real game comes out. It
might involve a small amount of weaponry and probably a small use of
vehicles hopefully the mongoose, it will probably include a small variaty
of enemys. I hope i didnt use the word small to much and keep on fragin
piniatas…

midget marines and baby brutes? :) single player possible? (not) hints of the story from multiplayer? forerunners? (architecture, locations, weapons, vehicles?) Frankie mentions forerunners

I signed up for the first wave of beta invites but havn’t gotten anything. I am hosting a group that will play at midnight on the 1st in order to get
our 3 hours in and sign up at 3:01 am before any of the lazys that decide
to play and sign up in the morning. Only the hardcore will get into the
Rule of 3.

rule of 3: how it works → play 3 hours of halo 2 multiplayer between february 1st and february (?), sign up again on halo3.com for the beta on february (?) or later. first 13,333 to sign up will get in. doesn’t matter when you play halo 2 within that period. the rush is to be the first to sign up. still it would be fun to play as soon as the window is open

I think bungie is handling the beta very well and showing their fans love
by giving them multiple chances. Microsoft on the other hand is only
showing us the cold face of bussiness. They are selling a beta invite for
$60! Thankfully they are bundling a free copy of Crackdown with it.

how bungie is handling the beta, crackdown: how is the game? will you buy crackdown when it’s out or try the rule of threes? is crackdown worth it at $60? what system will they use to verify access into the beta?

Regardless of whether or not I get in via phase one, I’m planning on
playing in early February. I think the servers will be clogged with
players clamoring to get into the beta, so it might be a good opportunity
to meet up with players I might not have otherwise. Since the open spots
are limited to the first 13,333 people who play 3 hours (and subsequently
register), I don’t think it’ll take more than the first 4 or so hours for
those spots to be filled . So get online early, and play for 3 hours
straight (because you can be sure there are at least 13,000 people who are
planning to do exactly that).

explain how this is PROBABLY misunderstood. lag in early beta online play? logjam may mess it up?

On a non-related note, what do you guys think about a Halo prequel?
Though they’ve said Halo 3 will be the last chapter of this story, Bungie
hasn’t totally ruled out the possibility of additional Halo games. I think it would be cool to visit some of the storyline that happened
before the first Halo game (maybe Spartan training, or the conflict on
Reach; how about including the floating squid-like Covenant engineers in
some way). I could go on and on, but just wanted to ask.

mention what bungie has said about this “story arc” ending with Halo 3 and what that could mean for ongoing halo episodes in video game or other forms

thanks for all the great work, and helping to keep the
community alive. Keep it up!

I see the Beata only alowing us to play a handfull of game types like slayer, team slayer, and probaly only a and full of maps, like the
ones we has seen recently like Snow Bound..

ideas for objective games? we know there will be new game types, what kind of twists could they put on game types in the future? bungie has done a good job keeping quiet any talk about other maps, weapons, game types, characters, etc. could they give us a map we have never heard of? how does that compare to how they did it with halo 2?

I think that the beta will have nothing we havn’t seen before.

In the leaked Iraq videos, we have only seen High Ground and Snowbound
both of with we already knew about. I also don’t think that any new
weapons besides the Laser, spiker, spike grenade, and Mongoose will be in
it. I am sure Bungie wants Halo 3 to be a surprise just as much as I do. If I get into the beta I still want to be wowed and surprised when I get
the full game later this year. Please Bungie don’t put the whole
Multi-player int eh Beta. Surprise us when the game comes out!

Killazilla

we all agree i’m sure… but they haven’t told us about the x button or the top progress bar yet

First and foremost I want to say to everyone not to judge the game on the
beta. The beta no doubt will be awesome but there are going to be so many
features left out of the beta version that to make your entire judgement on
an incomplete multiplayer beta is absurd. I think that there will be three
maps on the beta as well as a limited party system. I think the beta will
live up to the hype but at the same time not reveal anything that they
will save for the final game.

the guy who left bungie to start the company that is doing the h2 multiplayer maps said halo 3 multiplayer is “years ahead of the competition.” What about the party system? will we get to play customs and matchmaking and switch between? Will it be as we’re used to or something new? New options interface? use the d-pad for the menu or to switch weapons?

Hey I think that the Halo 3 Beta will be awesome! But having to enter to
get in, or having the buy a game is stupid. We should all be a ble to
download the demo for free on the xbox live market place like all the
other demos.

the hype around halo 3 and how much traffic they’ll get even with the beta, why a release for everyone might be disastrous, how easy it should be to get in
