General Tips

Halo 2 – still most played live game! Woot.

My multiplayer tips are, (and please, my teamates need to pick up on
this), in a Team Slayer match when your the one telling everyone to slow
it down, and group up, and just take it easy, listen to yourself and
realise that you are probably the one who is going negative!
Just grab a shotty and hide for a while! I promise, your K/D will go up a
lot!

Use the proximity chat to lie, a lot, to the other team. Deceptive but
effective.

It’s funny how the death animation never leaves you on your stomach! I
think this is to prevent the flag from landing between your legs and
creating a possibly embarrassing situation for our beloved hero!

Hey FooMo and the gang, this tip is only really helpful for the people that
have a good imagination, and have almost no embarrasment. Now I know you
are really confused thinking “How does imagination help with BXR?” but
when you are in a fight going to the enemy, shout something really
retarded like “I enjoy cheese!!!!” or “I shooted my dune!” The enemy will
be confused and let there gaurd down just trying to figure out what you
just said. In that moment of “wtf?” you can get some good shots in. I know
it sounds crazy but, it works magic for people like me…

I found a way that when your chasing someone and you have a sword,
you can lunge them. Usually they are traveling the same speed as u(exept
for the noobs who are like “Check it out, I can just walk normal, isn’t
that awsome?”) If you jump tho, it gives you a quick boost, but sometimes
it takes a couple jumps, and then you can lunge them and- Sing it babam
the grunt!
Babam the Grunt: We are the champoins my friends!!!!

Hey, guya st podtacular, this is Maltese Idiot, I just wanted to share a
tip that I use. When playing on on a smaller sized map such as lockout of
warlock its always good to crouch and stay hidden when you see an enemy
attack and never reveal your position. As soon as they see you obviously
shoot back but walk closer to them abd crouch and use the BXB combo. This
is a great way to get easy stealthy kills. Also using BXB and crouching is
one of my favourite things to do since its just as effective as BXR which
is more difficult. Thanks

I have a tip for you gusy for high-level matchmaking. Don’t randomly party
up with people you play with and win. Unless you somehow get paired up
with ninjaonfire or something awesome. anyways, just cause the four of
you won doesn’t mean you have a good team. When you have a party, you get
matched up against other parties, which means the three guys that you
randomly picked up are now with you against some team that’s been playing
together for months and is awesome. then you get your a$$ kicked. So,
long story short, if you like a guy, send a friend request, play around in
unranked, then pwn in matchmaking against the idiots who randomly party up

Here is a tip about double shoting. Its fun to learn but dont do it in
matchmaking. To actually be effective with the double shot you need to be
able to perform it over 90% of the time. Plus unless your playing the
ogres a good BR will be better than the double shot in most cases. But, If
you are a 35 or higher it can be helpfull. If you are in a br battle and
they get first shot if your lucky you can still win by double shotting on
your 3rd shot and getting the kill. In my opinion it is very over rated.
Get your BR to its max before you even consider double shotting. Keep it up, weiness masters.

Tips to level up and stay there.

1. When you go into a game, run at the other team and when they start
shooting you start screaming at them and telling them that bungie
announced that today was halo world peace day. I did this before and they
stopped shooting and ran around doing teabags in midfield.

2. If you are playing team snipers on Beaver creek, Get one point and have
everyone Hide inside the base or in the cave where shotgun and overshield
spawns. You can even have story time and make cookies while the other team
is outside looking for you.

3. When playing a match on zanzibar, have your team go to the water and
play “team bubblebath”, except, you betray each other. Once people betray
you, boot them. Send them a friend request laughing and saying how much of
a noob they are for falling for it.

4. Tell the other team you work for bungie.

5. Ghandi Hop across the map and convince the other team to do the same.
Then kill them and hide in a corner.

6. When calling out positions on the map, tell your team the “codenames”
for them. Make sure you make them sound nothing like the actual
nicknames.

I hope these tips will help you guys out, when I first started playing,
this is how I leveled up from my 23 to 26. No joke.

I dont know if this has been said before, but i have found the secret to
dodging a noob blast. I discovered that if you jump up as a noob comb is
coming towards you and hit a roof and crouch the plasma pistol blast will
allways miss. For some reason this throws of the aim of the blast. I know
this technique cannot always be used but if you are in an area, like the top floor of Ivorytowers, and someone
shoots a noob blast at you from the other end of the floor i can always
dodge it.

Its possible to get a headshot with the BR without aiming at the head due
to auto-aim. The only pre-requisite is that you are in mid-range of your
opponent. Just zoom in, make sure the reticle is red, and aim for the
head. Its not necessary to shoot, but just make sure that the reticle is
on your opponents head. Now, zoom out. Make sure that you are far enough
from your opponent that the reticle doesn’t turn red when unscoped. Now
aim for the body, and shoot. You will four shot the enemy without aiming
at the head. This comes in helpful when your opponent lkes to run away
with their head down.

This is pretty obvious but, get a plasma rifle and an SMG dualweilded to
give a great combo. Shoot both at the time though, I’ve shot the rifle
only and then after someone’s shields were down I shot with the SMG, and
the guy killed me before I killed him.

This is JordanJr with a tip for matchmaking. One of the most frustrating
things in matchmaking is getting bridged out of a game and cheated. The
easiest way to stop this is to get box host. This just means that your
xbox started the game that everyone else will join. To get box host, all
you have to do is go into matchmaking, and hold ‘down’ on the d-pad. If
you go to step 2, back out and try again. Don’t wait too long to back out,
or you might get locked in. You’ll know you got box host(or commonly
referred to as boxes) is when you go into matchmaking and there are no
Matched Players. For example: If you go into Team Slayer with 2 other
people, and you get boxes, all you should see is you, the two other
people, and 5 empty spaces for people to join. Getting boxes has helped me
get from a 33 to a 37. I hope you understood this helpful tip, but if you
didn’t, send a friend request to JordanJr and I’ll be glad to show you.

I find to get to a high rank one must posess the essential Skills of a
skilled player. Including: Communication,Teamwork, and Invidual Skill.
Generally at High Level 20’s to Mid Range 30’s you should try to Stray
Away from 4 Man parties because, most often you will run into a group of
Modders/Bridgers/Standbyer’s. Find a good base of Skilled Friends, and
play a few Unranked games with them. If you work well as a team, make a
mental note and invite them into your party at a later time. Take parties
of 2 or 3 gets you into games slower, but also helps you because you are
not getting cheated. One way to keep your skill up and henceforth keeping
your level up is to know all the spawn points on a map. If you know where
spawn points are, getting shields down on a well placed grenade can be
vital for a win. These can be learnt Easily, It just takes a bit of time. My last tip to become a high level and stay there, is to not yell at your
team or talk crap to the other team when you are Winning/Losing. If you do
this, your focus isnt on the game or what is happening around you. Keep
your mind open, Piece the game together aim low. Start gunning for 5 kills
then look at the leader and gun for his amount. If you are the leader, you
must be doing something right, so keep up the work, use your communication
skills and lockdown the game.

Hey Podtacular I have tips to beat the noob combo. Most are easy. 1. Use an
objective object like the oddball, flag, or bomb. simply press L or R when
the plasma bolt gets close and if timed rigth should block the plasma
pistol bolt. 2. Side-stepping behind a wall. This is the easiest to do if
you dont have anything to stop the plasma bolt with. 3. When you are dual
wielding simply press B when the bolt gets close and it should vanish just
like when you use the flag, oddball, or bomb. That is how to defeat noob
combo. It takes a little time to get right. This is especially helpful
when tring to level up, since some gamers will use noob combo just to keep
their high levels. Hope this helps all those who hate the noob combo. Keep
on fraggin’ trucks!

A good way to level up is…. when in the heat of battle yell out,
“TIMEOUT” that way, everyone can take a break, sheilds will recharge, controllers will be saved, and you will live on!

Hey guys this is meean Luc and I have one of the best general tips out
there. When you start of in a Slayer or Team Slayer game where the
weapons are Map Default. Instead of sticking with your SMG you should go
and grab a plasma rifle. Now I saying not to grab it as your dual wield
but to use it by itself. The plasma rifle can total own people at close
quaters better than the SMG. Think about it it takes just 3 or 4 shots to
deplete thier shield and one quick beat down. For the SMG you have to
throw a grenade or 2 and then shot them with the SMG. Using the Plasma
Rifle you can save grenades and kill people much faster. Plasma Rifle
OWNS.

Well, if you really want to get to a high level, play with you friends!!!
Get a party together and go into Matchmaking with people you know will do
good. This is much better than getting match up with someone who might
just quit cause he/she doesnt like the gametype.

Another tip for staying a high level is to play competive custom games if
you’re not playing MM. Play with people who you think are better than you,
that will help a lot.

I have my sensitivity at 2 cause I am all over the place with my BR most
of the time. Now, if you think you are not comfortable with your
sensitivity, then change it, oviously. Do this during a custom game not
MM, play in all sensitivity options, that will help also.

Ha- I’m bored at work. Here are my tips!

crouch while tapping the melee button repeatedly. You'll
still lunge, but will go underneath your opponents melee, and melee faster
than normal.
avoid meleeing after you've sniped someone and missed the
headshot. If they're that close- just fire again. Learn how to swipe
snipe! To swipe most effectively, make sure your sensitivity is set no
lower than 6 on a regular xbox, or 4 on 360. Whenever sniping, make sure to remove yourself from the greater majority
of your team if possible. Bring one person to guard you with a noob
combo/shotgun/or PR/SMG if possible, but stay away from the action. If
you're a good sniper, that's where you'll be the most effective.
don't aim for the head or feet. Guage the direction your
opponent is moving, and aim for their waist approximately one half-second
ahead of them.
pump the trigger. Your aim will increase, walking will reduce,
and damage will be maximized.
Rifle/SMG- pump your smg, get in close and crouch/melee.
Plasma Riflge/SMG- if you correctly perform the
aforementioned PR/SMG combostrategy with this combo, you can effectively
neutralize most people with noob combos. Remember, crouch/melee.
vs. BR- the carbine CAN POSSIBLY have a faster rate
depending on your ability to pull the trigger fast. It is also more
powerful in close proximity than the BR, which has a longer range but
slower rate of fire. Use them accordingly.

If you don’t have a teammate to run with, camp. It’s not worth venturing
into enemy territory which may hold ambushes when you are alone. There is
a much greater advantage to knowing and picking your battlefield.

Go buy or rent and read The Art of War by Sun Tsu. I’m serious. It’ll help
you rethink many strategies and tactics in your gameplay.
Pick your battles. Don’t be afraid to run from someone who you know has
host, a group of people, someone with a superior weapon/combo, or someone
whom you know is simply better than you.
Adapt your tactics: don’t just keep trying the same crap that doesn’t work
each time. If something does work, adapt it anyways- because your opponents
aren’t bots- they’re real people who will adapt if you don’t.
Timing is everything: wait for teammates to run with you before charging
into a base, wait for teammates to cause diversions for you, and make
diversions from others with more important weapons/ objects. Let flags
respawn when they’re in impossible places.
Ok, I just wrote a book, of which I’m sure you’ve all read already. I
already wrote you guys once today, and it’s time to go home from work. So
have a great day, and keep up the good work on podtacular.

Zanzibar Tips

In team slayer, try to define a specific area for your team to defend and
then force the other team to attack. These aren’t rigid areas like in CTF
or assault, but more fluid. For instance, you could work with the fort and
running to froman for the snipes. or the seawall, and once in a while
sending a commando to the invisible to get some assasinations. the point
is develop a strategy for each area. If you hold the fort/froman, DON”T
OPEN THE GATE. it may slow down getting outside, but it decreases attack
options for the enemy. The best is to hold the sea wall. There’s only
like 3 or four ways onto it, and if you crouch to avoid the BR’s, yu can
wrekc them.

What’s happening Podtacular, it’s your neighborhood friendly
Redchannel. This tip will give you that slight upper leg up in Capture the
flag CTF. It seems as though that the sniper rifle in my opinion, is often
misused when playing CTF on Zanzibar. The player that takes volunteers to
take the sniper can be more effective in early stages of the game if you do
the following. The selected player who takes hold of the Sniper, should not
camp at all. The first thing that they should do is scope for the Rocket
guy past the ceiling things (on the shotgun side). EVERY TIME, 97% of the
time, one of the players on the defending team will go for the rockets
without hesitation. I’ve have got many a-double kills this way. Don’t
worry about the snipe at camp Forman to much. From here, right as you exit
the ceiling thingy, crouch jump onto the first rock and then onto the
active camo spot and retrieve that. Pause, then look to see if someone is
after the other snipe and make sure all is clear. Now this is the fun
part, This will make you look like a total badass. Proceed to the top
right entrance of the base (where the stickies are) and sneak in. Once in
start raising hell and causing massive destruction. Usually there will be
a guy on the opposite side of the base that can lead you to a free kill.
Let your team do the rest of the dirty work and continue to look smooth.
BTW make sure your heavily armed with grenades.

Hey guys, Public here, and I got a tip for Zanzibar. This one is for
assault. Group up,when in a group, have everyone charge the base, while
the bomb carrier and 2-3 other people come in from a route that is totally
opposite then the other group, always use the road less traveled, or more
hidden, watever floats your boat. When storming the building, have one
group go through the gate or small doorway next to it, while the other
group gos through the hole in the wall on the other side of the building.
For storming the beach, have one group drive a hog, ghost etc. etc. while
the other group goes up the stairs to the sniper/plasma spawn area, while
on that ridge, DON’T go down the immediate stairway. Keep on going towards
the bomb plant area, not alot of people even notice that there is a
stairway here. It’s great for a sneaky win.

Many routes can be taken to capture the flag on zanzibar, all of them
require you to cross the sea wall in some way. Going towards the camo
tower is the longest route and should be avoided. If you want to go
straight down the middle of the map you should first go up the stairs in
the base, that way you can throw the flag almost all the way to the
seawall chairs. The best way to score is to open the gate and use the hog
to carry the flag bearer to the seawall opening across from a sniper
spawn, the one with a br in it. park the hog under the hole and have the
flag bearer use the hog as a stepping stone up into the seawall and
quickly to the capture point.

Zanzibar has been the venue for many great battles in Halo 2 Multiplayer.
But to truly master Zanzibar, you must first know it’s history:

Zanzibar was a quiet island off of the coast of East Africa. On this
island, there was only one man-made structure of significance: A mini-mall
named Brentopia.

Brentopia had many great stores within it’s mall; Their was the barber
shop known as “Camp Fro-Man”, A large ferris wheel that looked
suspiciously like a huge metal fan, and the main attraction, the filming
site for the 1970’s children show “The Electric Company”.

Unfortunately, The Electric Company became too powerful. A large
overcharge from the power produced by The Electric Company destroyed
Brentopia, leaving only the Ferris Wheel and the crumbled remains of Camp
Fro-Man. To this day, Spartans fight in Brentopia on the island of
Zanzibar, in hopes that they too can harness the awesome power of The
Electric Company.

I have a tip for general game play. Use the tower on the left of the lever
when coming from the beach. I see this poorly utilized when I play and it
can bee a good way to sneak into the base.

Hey, One Good Way to make it far on a Classic CTF or Assault Match is to
Launch one of your Players Across the map and overtop of the Seawall Using
the Warthog. This can be done by first The person going over runs up the
beach to the angled Piece of rubble adjecent to where the BR spawns and
Couchwalks into it. At this point in time the warthog driver will drive
out into the water and position himself directally behind the player who
will be going over. The Warthog Driver must have his Handicap on Severe
for this to work. The Warthog can now drive and hit the person
crouchwalking and that player will go flying. This will put a player
anywhere from. Camo Spawn, Rocket Spawn,Top Of The Wheel, and If your Lucky
a Turret. Hope this helps, and shout out to Foo mo jive for keeping this
awesome site up and running

Hey Podtacular! Here is a tip for playing Assault on Zanzibar. When on
defense stay at the top level in the base. That way you have have the
higher ground and can see if the bomb is coming in. Don’t stay in the
doorways or at the bottom. If the other team takes control of the upper
level of the base they can easily take you out with grenades.

Dunno if this is common knowledge yet or not, but my favorite jump on
Zanzibar, when you have a sniper rifle is onto the top of the invisibility
tower. I know a lot of people use the grenade jump from the side, but I
found a way (much easier IMO) to jump without hurting yourself (or using a
team mate). If you stand on inviz and look directly toward the wheel, you
will see a ledge. Jump onto that (the lower part), and then face the
wheel. Then, if you can time it correctly, crouch jump onto the part
above. (It is more of a slide jump, similar to the one for getting on top
of the coag bases from the back.) Then from there you can jump right on
top of that fun little sniper spot. Hope this helps.

Here are ssome tips for assault. When playing 4v4 on offence have 2 people
go in the hog and drive around the area near the gate while the bomber and
other player go along the sea wall and pass the invis tower into the right
side of the base. On the way the bomber should grab the cloaking and his
gaurd should grab the shotgun and sniper. This is where the hog comes in.
They should have been driving around in that area during this time firing
in the base and drawing the attantion of the defenders. The bombing party
should croutchwalk into the base and take up positions. The sniper quickly
picks off anyone who is still gaurding the arming spot. then he pulls out
his shotgun and he and the bomber jump down. While the bomber arms the
shotgunner takes out anyone who comes to kill his teammate and can even
use his body to deflect frags away from his hommie. Bomb armed! Bomb
planted! BA-BAM!

For Defence grab the shotgun, rockets, sniper, and dual needlers. Contary
to popular belief dual needlers are very useful in assault because of the
explosion that occurs after sticking enough needles in a person. this
explosion will usually cause the bomb to fall outside of the circle. The
needler person should stand on the needler spawn at the bottom of the
stairs. The shotgun should also grab a br if possible and should gaurd
the upper level or more importantly the side enterence to the upper level
as that is a popular enterence. The rocket man should have also grabed
the sword and gaurds the lower level. The sniper jumps up into the middle
cubby-hole (might require a grenade jump) on the back wall so that he has a
clear shot at the arming spot. This gives him great cover and most people
won’t even look up there because no one uses it. If everyone has a good
supply of grenades you should win no sweat.

Well it might sound fishy but it can work wonders for your team…If you
get on those little bars on the hamster wheel and let it take you to the
top and jump off on to the bridge, while it is still standing up, then
turn to face the camoflauge building, jump forward at an angle and crouch,
you will be able to get on top of the Wheel which is excellent for Team
Snipers, as well as CTF because once you get the flag outside you can
easily cover for your teammates. I’ve heard people calling it a
superbounce but trust me if I can do this then everyone can.

On the right side of the base their is a hole in the wall. After some
practice you can just do a weelie boost over the rocks and the barrier
blocking the doorway. You can really take the other team by surprise when
they see a ghost comming at them and the gates not even open!

Campaign Tips

Something really fun to do in campaign is to get the sputnick skull and the
grunt birthday party skull so you can go around sending grunts flying into
the air. It’s really fun and makes them go flying really high.

the easiest way to beat the first part of the 2nd lv in campain, the one
when u like crash to the ground (forgot the name). u simply at the start
of the lv and going straigth where there is a grunt alone, there is a
ligth that u can jump on then out of the map, then u simply use your
intellengence to find the rigth way to get to the hotel zanzibar, (the
dark room). also by doing this u can find the blind skull

I found a really cool trick on Delta Halo. You have to progress through the
level until you get to the bridge. In the Warthog, you must get to the
Ghosts, and drive back up to the cliff overlooking the building. Look to
your right, and you should see a slope. Boost up it, and towards the
trees. Then, you are above the level. You can go on the high mountains,
and underneath ALL the lakes.

Campaign Tips:

Some basic tips when playing on harder difficulties:
-Dont try stuff like BxR and BxB, they don’t work too well
-Find a corner. Then create some attention. Watch your motion sensor to
when the enemies get close, then grenade and battle rifle them.
-When sword lunging a brute, jump backwards after the lunge to avoid
danergous melees

Some more advanced tips:
-Since you’re connection host, use the Grenade/Explosion trick! When close
to an enemy ghost or other vehicle, instead of just pressing X to board,
hit L+X. Your player will throw a grenade as he’s entering, not only
killing the enemy, but you get to keep your ghost!
-When assasinating foes, look down before meleeing, so its a better chance
you hit their feet. Also, crouching before meleeing is also helpful. This
lowers your chance of being caught.
-When set against a large group of enemies in a small location, use the
double grenade trick! Easiest with the plasma pistol, because its
available on almost every map. Let the gun overheat, and when the gun is
about halfway to 3/4 way cooled, throw 2 grenades.
-Random Grenades! Throw random grenades to lure the enemies to different
parts of an area!
-Against the Flood: Shoot the arm with a weapon in them. They will
sometimes drop the weapon with default ammo in it.

Bonus Lockout tips for show notes only!

There are several tactical ways to get the power weapons on lockout. By
power weapons I mean the Sniper and BR. The trick to getting the sniper is
tricky but it is worth it if you spawn at BR tower. You stand on the walkey
from the middle section of BR tower and the sword spawn. You look directly
at the wire above and in front of you. You MUST look at the middle and
throw a grenade. If you do it right then the grenade will explode along
with the three fusion cores. It will launch the sniper at you and if you
dont hold X then it will fly off the edge. It is hard to do at first but
once you get it then it will be a helpful tactic in team slayer and FFA
slayer. I will try to figure out how to get the other weapons easily. So
remember Podtacular, don’t frag trucks, frag snipers.

i know everyone knows this but its really helpful so i am going to tell it,
on the sniper tower where the sniper spawns there is a little ledge u have
to go about half way down the ramp to get on it but crough jump and u can
sit there and wait for a noob to come bye.this is really helpful if u have
the shotty or the sword.i know this is noobish and i know everyone knows it
but it helps.thanks padtacular your the best!!!

Here are some tips for lockout
1. NEVER go into the middle. In a slayer game this is suicide.
2. Try to avoid not having height advantage. Especially near the elbow.
You are much easier to kill when you dont have a place to go behind for
protection.

3. Unless you know its safe, dont go up the lift. If they have sniper your
toast.
4. Watch your back when you are at BR3.
5. Use skrats w/ MTR VTM 4 lockers on your rubi.
6. Use your instincts.
Thanks,
yivkX360

The first thing i try to do on Lockout is always get rid of the sword for
the rest of the game. To do this the sword must still be floating in the
air at its spawn. You have to throw a grenade in front of it so the
explosion will knock the sword off the ledge behind it. This will cause
the sword to never spawn again for the remainder of the game. The sword
causes problems on this map because it is a fairly small one, and a lot of
people camp with it which makes me really mad. I love it when i hear
people saying stuff like, “why isn’t the sword spawning” or “where is the
sword”. It’s hilarious.
Always try to get your hands on the battle rifles and sniper. There is
two separate spawns for the battle rifle, at the top of the lift and at
the top of the bigger tower with three levels. They can control the game
if used correctly. The sniper spawns at the opposite tower in front of
the three exploding barrels. If you provide your sniper with proper
protection, you will have the game won easily.

Finally, I always try to have a few plasma grenades. Usually try to aim
ahead of where your target is running. Predict their movements correctly
and a shiny blue ball of plasma will lodge itself to their body and you
will see a nice fireworks display.

For those who don’t know, you can stick people easily as they’re coming out
of the anti grav by checking your radar and then throwing the plasma nade
against the wall so it bounces off the wall and sticks to their back, but
to avoid getting killed crouch in the corner in front of the hole so that
you can see the anti grav but not have the world to your back. This also
provides an easy escape route if some one has the sword, and another
chance to stick your opponent if they’re dumb enough to follow you down
the same hole.

okay, this is the best grenade throw you can do for a 1v1 lockout. if ur in
suicide room, (which is the bottom of sniper,) and you know your enemy is
waiting is waiting at the top of the ramp, you can get them istantly.
switch to frags, and look up the shoot in the corner of the room. throw
the grenade at an angle at the little corner at the top. it shoots the
grenade right at the top of the ramp. then immediatly go outside and kill
the person because they will have no shields. :). merkurial, one of the
best halo players in the world showed me this trick.

first off you guyz rock, without your podcasts i wouldnt make it through school each day. Anyways i have learned that during either game types like swat or snipers, whether its the team versions or not, if stay over on the BR tower side you wont die as much and you are able to get people that spawn over at the lift easily. Also I like to use the bottom two levels under the BR tower during swat and i circle around outside up to the 2nd floor then drop through to the bottom to see if any one is heading towards sniper tower. This allows me to get easy double/triple kills and more. This tactic is only useful if you have a good weapon and isnt easy when a sword is on the map because people will sneak up on you easily.
