Tips Show with Map of the Month: Turf (explain)

General Tips

In this time of professional Halo players and MLG gametypes, it’s becoming
increasingly harder to win matches. Here are some tips for non-noobs to
help you achieve victory:

1 – Go for crotch shots. Sure, headshots are alot more effective, but it’s
alot more fun to tell your friends that you shot the guy where it hurts.

2 – Use the oddball to punch fusion cores. It’ll blow you up, but it is
fun watching the oddball fly into the air.

3 – When you have a sniper rifle, spin around in circles and start firing
randomly. Eventually, you’ll hit something.

4 – When you get a splatter in a Warthog, feel free to do donuts in
celebration of your kill.

5 – If someone if trying to Double Shot you, merely tell them that shoe is
untied. If they look down, you know that they have some Halo 2 problems.

6 – If Dialpex is trying to Double Shot you, tell him his shoes are
untied. He’ll probably look down. (Just Kidding Dial)

easy way to take out a ghost

Face the front of a Ghost. Now move to the right side of the machine where
you will find a circular “power source”. Just one or two shots with any
weapon will bring the Ghost down when hittng this weak spot.

Huge fan of the show, I’ve listened to almost all the archives. Well, the first thing I recommend to anyone who was any problems, read the MLG Guide at www.mlgpro.com this will help with a lot of your weapon combos and tricks for Halo 2. There is, however, one major thing people keep asking help for. This is the famous BXR, and it annoys me beyond comprehension. The correct way to do it is to press BRX, so it still registers the melee. In order to understand it, you have to understand how BXR works. It starts with a melee, and then you cancel the rest of the animation with X, then finish them off with R. That is why you need full ammo, because instead of canceling it, you reload. Most of the peoples’ problem is canceling too fast. In order for it to work, you have to cancel after the melee registers. To help you with this, I recommend you press BRX and the time it takes to press R is enough to let it register. Also, aim above the person’s head, around their GT, because your melee makes your reticule go down. In order to get the head shot, you have to preempt this by aiming high. OK, on to the rest of the tips. There are several advantages to Active Camouflage (AC) and Over Shield (OS), but it doesn’t make them invincible. For AC, you can throw a fragmentation grenade. Even if it only damages them a tiny bit, it allows you to have a red-reticule lock on. This is good for the energy sword, and for all weapons, especially sweep sniping with a BR. If they are still un lockable, you will be able to see them easier, because their shields will recharge. For the OS, I have noticed one easy way to kill them. Even if you don’t notice it, you do feel a small bit cocky with the OS. Many noobs won’t check around a corner they normally would, and you can get the assassination. The plasma pistol is a good weapon too, although many people will call you a noob. Now, stick with me… know your bounces. Even if you feel like reporting someone at the thought of it, it is good to have a little information on this widely used tactic. I respect your opinion to ban it in your clan, but most people at least know some places you can bounce to. I agree, bouncing in MM is not cool, but many people do it. If you know some bounces, or at least where people can get with them, so you will look there when you get shot at from above. On any level with a teleporter, never camp behind it. Instead, camp in front of it, so when someone goes through you don’t go after him and go straight through the teleporter, losing your kill. I have a few tips for sneakiness, I am a Ninja anyway. Turn off your mike. It only takes one button push to turn it back on if you have to say something. This will cut out your breathing on other people’s mikes, as well as the cursing you say after dying. Crouch. Crouching cuts you off your enemy’s radar, but jumping keeps you on. On a final note, people will call you noobs and other derogatory terms, its part of MM and any online experience. Don’t take them seriously, when Bungie made the game, they made all this stuff to be used, not disregarded as nooby. If you actually see people cheating, you can put them on a list at www.Halo2cheaters.com.

One thing you can do in team slayer once you get to 30 to stay there or
gain a couple more levels is play team slayer by your self. By doing this
you are less likley to get teamed up against a modder because those groups
are usually in fours. It has worked for me in the past, but it is still a
big gamble.

hey podtacular i just thought i would like to tell you guys about a sniping
tip so if you see a guy across the map and need to 10x soom on him so you
hit the stick 2 times well if you hit it once then hold it for the second
time when you let go it pust you back in to 5x coom so you can snipe
someone thats close to. this is a easy way to save time for sniping it
sure works for me and has made me a heck of a better sniper.

This is a tip for Head to Head matches. You must be playing a world where
you can fall off and die, such as lockout. When you start go for the Power
Weapons. Then whenever you get all the power weapons you can get go to the
plasma pistol. Press X to swap for it then walk forward a little bit swap
back to power weapon. Run toward the plasma pistol on the ground look up
at an angle toss the power weapon off the level. Get the noob combo. You
can own the guy this way. He might be pretty mad. But I don’t really worry
about that. I do what I have to do to win. Not what I have to do to play
“fairly”. If you want to throw off a weapon like the shotgun which is
nowhere near a ledge. Then you can run for pressing X repeatedly to
continually swap and throw the weapons out in front of you allowing you to
carry both the weapons at the same time. Carry them both to a ledge and
throw it off. Just keep on throwing off power weapons and owning the guy
and you will win. It may not be the nicest way to win, but it works.

WHEN OPERATING A TURRET, press up on the D-pad instead of the white button
to talk to your teammates. If you are using a turret, then you are only
using your right thumbstick and you are using it a lot! Your left thumb
is free from use, so by pressing up on the D-pad in a turret firefight,
you can keep on swaying the reticule on your opponents while you give tips
to your teammates.

have a tip about battle rifles and carbines. I find the carbine is disrespected and some people say it sucks. OK the battle rifle is a good weapon for medium range, in a medium range situation, yes, the carbine sucks. In close range carbine is amazing. If you have mad trigger pulling skills, you can shoot the carbine like a chain gun at /CLOSE RANGE!!!!/ some people don’t get it!!!! carbine is close range!!! I’m not saying it sucks but it is more of a close range weapon. One time i was playing sanctuary rifles, and I had a carbine and got a triple kill in about 5 seconds with a carbine!!! people are like you are modding!!!trispartan you suck!!!you are so modding!!! but i wasn’t and now when its a rifle game on a small map in the lobby I’m like prepare to be modded!!! Just a joke i guess I’m good with a carbine….anyway i love your show and keep up the good work.

This is plasma qrenades, but my 360 account is a tasty nubcake. I have a
tip that works very effectively on most maps. Most people drop power
weapons and lose precious kills when they could just get more ammo. For
example, on Turf if you are low on sniper ammo check behind the box near
the downed scarab. This has saved power weapons for my team multiple
times.

All right I don’t think anyone’s figured this out yet well I’m sure some
have. This can be a newb or pro tip, when boasting with the Ghost you
can’t turn sharp right… wrong, if you want to make a sharp turn while
boasting press and hold the A button until you have made the desired turn,
some times you can make 180 degree turn and this can be very useful in
tight situations. P.S.: on bumpy terrain this can cause the Ghost to flip
but with practice is easily avoided.

I’ve heard you guys talking about the double BR shot on the show, and I
want to tell you about an Xbox controller thing I’ve developed.

First I’ll start about how the controllers work, when you press a button
(for example A) the controller sends an electronic signal to the Xbox to
make the game do an action (e.g jump or select something in a menu). I
have developed a way by taking apart controllers and adding extra buttons
which create combined electronic signals e.g. I have a button next to my
right trigger that creates the double BR shot.

Once I have developed these controllers and have added even more controls
(such as double shot for other weapons, double jump, double melee and
double grenade) I will be selling the controllers on eBay.

The great thing about these controllers is that they are technically not
Mods as it is possible to do these actions without the controllers (though
much harder) so you can’t get banned and you can OWN ANYONE!!! Anyone who
wants to find out more can contact me on my Gamertag Rusty 2005i or my
email rusty2006i@hotmail.com. Peace Out and keep on fraggin’ trucks!

Hey guys, Hurricane12 here being the totally non-noobish kid I am I have
one really good tip that works really well for me. It is that when you
are reloading you weapons push the Y button twice really fast once the
magazine is placed in the gun. This saves allot of reloading time if done
correctly. It works best on the BR, the Sniper, and the brute shot. With
practice you will become very good at it and be able to notice that there
is a time that you can do this trick before the magazine hits the gun and
reload in almost half the time. From the most non-noobieish kid on earth
Hurricane12!

If you see multiple red dots on your radar in FFA games, stay crouched so
they can’t see you, then when the other red dots find eachother jump in
for an easy double (or more) kill.

Always, I mean ALWAYS use BXRB.

I have a good tip for you. When your in a melee fight, you should duck.
Especially if they hit you with the melee first. I found this out when i
was facing high ranks in rumble hardcore when it just started out. i would
hit them first but miss the other melee’s because they had ducked and were
hitting me in the legs. also dont forget the trusty BxB it melee fights.
ARRRGHHHHHOOOOBLAEGALCJMX!!!!!!!

Random tip: A technique now becoming known as the “ghandi hop”, is when the
player jumps and crouches as much and fast as possible. This makes the
jumper move very sporadically and very hard to get head shots on. Also for
turf I find one player using combo (or at least a br) and the another
playing using sniper and shotgun work well esp on double team, if its 4v4
the other two can dual plasma rifles and smgs. I sometimes bounce grenades
down the ramps heading for the “main street” area to catch anyone trying
to be sneaky. Thanks for the sweet podcast and a shoutout to Silky
Tongue.

(Notice the EXTREME run-on sentence)
The best tip i can offer is to choose your teammates wisely find someone
you work well with whether your better or worse then them it doesnt matter
that much. I have friends who are higher levels then me but we dont work
well together and nearly always lose however my friends who are lower
level then me always know what to do when we play together and we always
win its all about teamwork and finding out how they play and how you play.
complementing eachothers strengths and weaknesses such as having someone
who is good at all weapons and someone who is good with just a few. I am
good with just about every weapon and so is my cousin but i have trouble
watching my back and he does that for me while i run around killing people
we very rarely lose the people we vers tell us its because whenever they
kill one of us the other comes up behind for the assasination. its all
about teamwork and map control work on that and you will go far.

Map of the Month: Turf (superjump central)

Slayer games and general map coordination

There are a lot of spawning by the scarab. I always kill the people in
there, run down to the garage and wait a short time. Then i run back up to
the scarab and there is usually someone there by then. It gets a lot kills.

1. Take dual SMG and Brute Plasma combo or shotgun (maybe sniper if you are
good in medium-range sniping) on basic slayer

2. ALWAYS support whoever has the basic item in objective games (flag,
bomb, etc.)

3. NEVER go for non-combo single-handed weapon: the Elite Plasma Rifle

4. BR is your friend on this map. It is a perfect combination of
long-short range shoot-outs.

5. If you are out of ammo but full of ‘nades, chuck ‘em like heck. The
close-quarters will amplify the damage. (This can also be used even if
you aren’t out of ammo)

6. The Brute Shot is also a powerful weapon in this game. Since, in
theory, it is another type of ‘nade. Just fire away in close quarters. (careful not to hit your team though. Same for the first ‘nade tactic)

1. Use short range weapons such as the SMG and Plasma Rifle rather than a
Sniper Rifle or BR. These weapons are better to use because there are not
many good sniping spots on the map besides on the roof and even there you
are in a very open area, and the BR is not good up against someone dual
wielding a SMG and Plasma Rifle.

2. Don’t hide on this map especially in a TS game. It is best to get out
on the “street area” by the warthog, it is easier to get kills that way.

Thats all the tips I have for now. Keep up the good work Podtacular! Also,
SHOUTOUT TO REC D YOU GUYS PWN!!!!

(This is for Snipers) When in a sniper game do not get in or around the
Medical tent for it is a death trap. Also the warehouse is too. Try to
lure the other team to the alley ways and sniping them when they are
cornered or don’t see you.
¬ COWBEL!!!!!!!!!!

As soon as you spawn, you and your team should make your way to the warthog
area where the shotgun and sniper is. If you and your team hold this
position, It is a guaranteed win.

For Turf, one of my favorite tactics is to grab the Brute Plasma-Rifle and
dual wield it if the SMG. Then go and camp, by the pyramid of crates, in
the corner. This works great in CTF, Assault, or even Slayer, if you don’t
have a long range weapon.

hey guys ssjmoose7785 here, and on turf i like to grab a snipe and BR and
camp behind the warthog with a buddy on the turret, this is a good
strategy if you’re a good sniper because you can take the long shots
before people throw nades at the hog and the turret guy can take out
people who try to get close

hey i got a great hiding/camping spot for turf. if go to the little place
where the plasma pistol spawns and go left towards the other ramp, there
is a little room that you can go in and will be easily missed to gullible
enemys. If you have the shotgun and camp there, you will own.

This is Phantom Gett, you loving host of 360 Talk(:The Unofficial Xbox
360 Podcast) with some tips for Turf! This map is best played with No
Shields gametypes such as SWAT and SCWATGUNS and SWAT CTF…ect…ect.

Weapon Tips:

This map is best tackled with a trusty BR or Carbine and/or a close
range weapon such as the Sword/Shotgun. You will most likely be doing
most of your fighting on the upper level. Keep the BR handy over
medium ranges and the Sword over closer ranges.

A Needler/Plasma Pistol/Rifle would be a good alternative for duals
only maps. Pistols may sub for a BR in a tight sopt if your Aim is
DEAD on.

If you really want some pure head-shot practice, check out a
Snipers/Swat game with your friends. If you just need a quick kill
fix, play with needlers. There aren’t many places to dodge if you get
someone out i the open. Needlers are a ggood weapon to work with if
you need a challenge.

Assault and CTF

In bomb games, use the warthog as a distraction. I find the “triple kill
machine” aka Warthog is very difficult to drive up to the planting spot
and can easily get stuck, then used agianst you with further planting
attempts. Instead, use it later in the game as a distraction when bomb
guy is getting close to the planting spot, turn the opposing teams
attention towards the hog and not the bomb carrier. If this tip doesn’t
help, what can I say “I bring nothing to the table”.

This is best tackled by having your team go for the turrets, rockets
and having one or 2 guys go for the flag. The Turret and Rockets guy
can keep a flag safe for quite a while if he gets trapped. Make sure
your turret guy is covered and try to gank the other teams base with
Grendes to sterilze the place before rushing in, guns blazing!

Final comments on this map, a great training map with plenty of
statigies. KEEP AWAY FROM SUPER JUMPS! Also if you get a chance, check
out the awesome sope in one of the green rooms. You’ll find a nice
little “hidey hole”. Keep it clean and fair and play this map in
customs it’s awesome!

The first thing i always do is get the BR for long range but if i stay in
tight quarters i get the SMG and brute plasma rifle combo which is very
effective in tight spaces. Also the sniper rifle comes in handy if your
teammates are rushing and they cant see you just take them out with a few
headshots and youll be rollin in the dough. peace out podtacular

KOTH and Territories

Territories: Just keep two. Preferably two next to each other. If they have good
defence on one and you’re trying to take it, go to the other. Always have
someone stay and guard.

Normally you play three plots so what you need to do is have on person sit
at the medical tent and one at the Garage thing (The doors that open and
close) Next put one person at the elbow where the warthog spawns and have
him sit in the warthog turret. Lastly have the 4th person take a Plasma
smg combo or noob combo and wait near the warthog and go and help any of
the two territories that get attacked if they both die have the man in the
warthog drive into the area and rundown anything in their way and wait for
someone to respawn. At no time should the other player leave their post at
the 2nd territory this way you still get some points and when your team
respawns you can mount a counter attack.

Oddball and Juggernaut

A tip for TEAM ODDBALL on TURF: You and a teammate, with a ball, go to the
scarab and look out towards the blue crates. In the alley to the right of
the blue crates, there is a reddish roof that can only be reached by
jumping on top of a teammate’s head… So do it! Have the player without
the ball stand in front of the roof, and the player with the ball can jump
on his head, then on to the roof.

for juggernaut:everybody should go to shotgun spawn, you’llhave a better
view of your surroundings
