Announcements

We were on bungie.net again! Thanks Bungie, and welcome new listeners.

Some podtacular pro clans are still recruiting! If you want to be in a competitive pro clan and you’re in a recreational clan now, just go to podtacular.com, click on forums then clans, and find a pro clan that’s looking for people. They all have recruiting threads. Just post your levels. They’ll probably give you a test and if you’re good enough to meet their requirements you’re in!

PodtacularRec C will be having a “Pro Clan Training Day” on Saturday, March 4th. There will be 2 times for this, and the rest of the day being Custom Saturday of course. 11:00 A.M. until noon(central). If you can’t make that, another will be held from 7:00 P.M. (central) until 8:00 P.M. (central) Pro clan overlords are invited to spectate, as they can scout any players for their clan. Send a friend request to drthom if you want to participate.

rec clans are also recruiting by the way, and if you want to get into a podtacular pro clan you HAVE
to be in a rec clan first. Rec clans are also fun places to hang and meet other listeners and play some
cool customs. Request an invite on the right side of podtacular.com.

there’s an interesting article about a study performed about cussing in Halo 2 online. It has charts and stuff and lots of comments. Link in the shownotes.

It’s old news by now that Halo 2 will be exclusively on Vista. there’s also a petition to get it on other OS’s.

Peter Jackson visited Bungie studios this month in preparation for the Halo 2 film.

MLGpro.com has a cool feature called “player of the week” that talks about pros and how they are so good. You might want to check it out. Also, MLG just got 10 mil in funding and got a new CEO formerly from AOL Mobile. There’s an article in the Wall Street Journal about it.

You walk by a burnt jeep on the road, and you yell TRIPLE KILL!!!

You know you play too much halo 2 when you write songs about it…wait

You know you play too much Halo 2 when you enter a gun store pick up a rifle, point it at
somebodies head and yell BOOM HEADSHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!, followed by “where’s the Kaboom”, and you
being thrown out of the store while your meleeing the security and calling them modders for not
dieing from a melee when their sheild is down.

You know you’ve been playing too much Halo 2 when you get an F on a test and claim that you got
modded.

into a rock to superjump to get on top of the map.

sitting right next to you, even though your not on live.

PS: This is very fun.

==========GLEWIS========

1: You can’t close your eyes without seeing (or seeing with your eyes open) a targetting reticle, a shield meter, a motion tracker, an ammo counter and a grenade bar.

2: You watched the Super Bowl to see an ad for Halo 3

3: You have no girlfriend, OR, a girlfriend who could kick your butt up and down Zanzibar

You know you’ve been playing halo too much when you wake up in the morning and think “Hold X to get out of bed.”

You steal a flag from a foreign embassy and try to teleport from the roof to a van you parked a few blocks away.

=======FOOMO=======

When you shoot spitwads at people, stick-them, and then run away knowing that spitwad has to blow up some time…

You know you play too much Halo 2 when you can beat every one of of your friends who has an Xbox,
but no xbox live, 25-0.

You know you play too much halo when your girlfriend starts getting interested and wants to start playing it!
Oh the humanity!

What was I thinking?!

========GEMINIACE=========

you play too much halo when you have enough free time to make a podcast about it and build a community around that podcast…...sound familiar???

1. when someone sneaks up from behind you…and you claim they were screen cheating.

2. when you try butterflying with real swords.

3. when you’re higher than a level 30.

4. when you decide you need a break from Halo.

5. when you decide to take Halo 2 on an island but not food or water.

When you crouch-walk to your grandma’s house with a chicken and crawl under her table, throw the chicken on it and yell “BIRD ARMED! BIRD PLANTED!”

==========GLEWIS=========

I heard this one somewhere… anyway here it is “You know you’ve played to much Halo when you’re building sand-castles, and the kids next to you make a better one, then you yell YOU MODDED THAT SAND CASTLE

You know you have played too much halo when people call the sniper tower on accencion the “(Insert your gamertag here) tower”. this acctualy happened to one of my friends, we were playing a variation of hide and seek and one of my frinds, B JAMMIN, hid in some bushes on ivory tower, it was realy easy to see him but for some reason the Jugg never looked there. from then on my friends and i labeled them the B JAMMIN bushes.

You know you’ve been playing too much Halo when you have more than one xbox live account.

=======FOOMO=======

you consider the place where you play halo your “place of worship”

your family doest bother you while you play because you are in “your happy place”

when you ruin the curve on a test you respond by saying “i pwned dem noobs”

you eat a diet based around being better at halo

if halo was a cerial, you know you’d eat it

you try to get your school to make master chief its mascot

-You think …”ok, press “Y” to change clothes”

You know you’ve been playing to much Halo when…

You have a secret code for you and the guys you roll with to chat with
and confuse the other team, (and yours)

Your level is so high it isn’t even a number anymore

You have the Halo soundtrack on your iPod

You have memorized all the ways to pull double shots and throw to
grnades at once, etc. etc.

You have read every Halo book and wait in line at midnight for the next
one.

You Take Big team battle seriously.

=======GEMINIACE========

You should duel-wield swords. 2 in each hand would give you an advantage over others but to even it out for others, they would have a hard time seeing and can’t throw grenades. A person with only 1 sword could see better and hold another weapon.

a helicopter would be pretty awsome. it would have a mini gun
on the left side and it should fire rockets.
a better melee system would be good.
a new type of grenade like a flashbang or detonators for them.
a respawn system like starwars battlefront might be sweet.

Its a war game, we need some huge war battles. I would also like to add something like a custom game list, where you can post your games on a list with other custom games, and people can join them, that way you dont need to have a lot of friends on to get a custom game going.

I would also make a Multi-Juggernaut game, where you could have two or more Juggernauts either working with or against each other. And also I would make an option for the Juggernaut to be able to only use certain weapons and vehicles, this would be cool for hide and seek and fan created games.

I would also make a gametype built in for Zombie type games, where one team could only use one weapon, and you would switch teams automatically if you were killed. This would be cool but I can see some disadvantages to it so it would be a stretch.

Another change I would make in multiplayer would be to enable indestructible vehicles, like the human ones in Halo 1.

I would also make an option to spawn with no weapons, I mean, what damage could this do? It would be great for people that made movies using capture cards, and it would be fun for Hide and Seek. Also I would make an option to take out one or more weapons in the game editor (i.e.: there would be a list of all the weapons and you could enable or disable some of them, I’m sure MLG players would love this to disable the “noob stick.”)

I would also change some options for the actual pregame lobby in Multiplayer. I would add a menu “Advanced Options” where you could do more than the Quick Options menu. I would also change when you were in the Map Select or Rules menu, if you hit “B” it would only take you back one level, instead of all the way to the Pregame Lobby. This is small, but it can be very annoying.

I would add two major options for XBL. The first would be the ability to Boot derankers. If they committed suicide more than 4 times then the option would appear to everyone on their team to boot them, and then every time after that. I’m sure anyone who plays XBL would agree with this.

I would also make the option to save other people’s gametypes. When people give you party leadership you automatically start with whatever gametype they had last, you should be able to save it to your X-Box.

=======GMAN=======

If bungie called me up today and asked me about Halo 3 stuff that I
wanted I would tell them to make sure that everything in cutscenes
loads at the same time. I don’t know about other people but I like to
know what is going on during the game before I go and destroy every
covenant guy I can find, and whenever I played Halo 2 on my old xbox I
always got so distracted whenever the cutscene would load and then a
second later the people in the cutscene would load. I think this takes
away from the Halo experience.

if your tip didn’t get read, it’s because we’ve already covered it or we didn’t have time.

If I were trapped in a basement while aliens ravaged the earth and I could only play one game
and it wasn’t Halo 2…

Other than Halo, I enjoy playing Star Wars Battlefront II, Madden 06, and Ghost Recon. I truely recommend Star Wars Battlefront series because they make you feel as if you’re really out there fighting. In Battlefront II, Some of the controls have changed so heres a hint. If you can’t figure out how to reload, its directional pad DOWN. Some people don’t bother taking a look at the controls and jumping right in.

=======FOOMO=======

In one of your earlier shows, you mentioned Halo PC Maps, and wondered what they were. Death Island is the Silent Cartographer map. Only the outside and a little of the inside is available though. Gephyrophobia is the coolest map ever! It is a huge bridge that extends across the map with balconies on the sides. When I say huge, I mean HUGE! It takes about 1 min. to drive from one end to the other.

Also, there are other Halo PC maps. Danger Canyon is a large…..... canyon. It’s great for CTF.

Wizard is almost exactly like Warlock.

Timberland is a large valley with a river and trees. Each team has a base, and a bunch of Warthogs. (8 Warthogs total on a map at a time if you didn’t know! 4 normal and 4 rocket)

Infinity is another huge map. There are giant bases and teleporters everywhere.

If I were trapped in a basement while aliens ravaged the earth and I
could only play one game and it wasn’t Halo 2, i would bring the Elder
Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and Burnout Revenge
for the Xbox 360.

p.s. What if the aliens destroyed the power supply? would you need
another magical plug here too?

If i were stuck in a basement….

I would bring either Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2, SXX Tricky, and Call
of Duty 2.

(Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2)

I like this game because of the high speed chases, and epscecially because you can be the cops.

There are many things to unlock and i consider it better than NFS Most Wanted

Second (SXX Tricky)

This game is AMAZING!, the large, imaginative levels are soo cool and fun to play. The insane tricks
make this one of the best extreeme sports games EVER (at least in my opinion)

Third (Call of Duty 2)

This game has a very fun and long campaign, and even has fun multiplayer. Of course, if i were in a basement while aliens where destroying the earth, i don’t think there would many people on live.

=======JVB=======

if i was to play a game outside of halo while stuck in a
basement, I’d play the pc game “Savage.”...sooooo much fun

Ninja Gaiden! It’s unbelievably fun, and incredibly hard, so I’d be
occupied for a good while.

Also, though it’s not for Xbox, I would bring World of Warcraft,
because, well, you know, it’s like crack.

I think I would play KOTOR2 because it is really long and expansive. The
other game would be (if after March 8th) GRAW because it just kicks
ass.

If all I had was Xbox, I would play Far Cry: Instincts. But if I had my 360, I would probably go crazy before I could decide between Perfect Dark Zero and Call of Duty 2.

=======GMAN=======

Well, it would have to be Halo 1. Why? ‘Cause I can’t choose Halo 2, and
I could go all Jack Thomson on you and use it as a training simulator to
go on a massacre of aliens, then die…

if i was traped in a basement with other games than halo 2 they
would be

halo
star wars battlefront 2
DOA 4
Perfect Dark Zero

Halo because….well its halo not much really has to be said

Star wats battlefront 2 because of the bots, I love how you can just
put it in and play a 32 person battle like that.

DOA 4 because i love the series and how fun the game is itself

Perfect Dark Zero because its just so fun with its multiplayer having a
mix of normal multiplayer and a counter-strike like operation
multiplayer

If I was stuck in a basement without Halo 2, I would play Halo 1 for the
PC. There is so much you can do to liven up the game experience. I’d
also play the Splinter Cell series. The action in there is so tense
that you get a heart attack when you hear a gun shot in the game.
Finally I’d play Burnout 3: Takedown. This is one of the best racing
games ever.
