Podtacular Show Notes

Podtacular Tips Show: (Episode 43)

General Tips

The respawn time indicator can only go to 1023 seconds (17.05) minutes.

Just a silly note: Whilst listen to Episode 40 (@ 6:06). I heard that you can’t shoot yoursef. But you can…

...you maybe have noticed some bullets rebound of objects, mainly metal objects. By using a sniper rifle and a metal object (preferably a tank), you can walk right up to it, fire straight at the object and the shot will rebound and if you get it right, you’ll get a head shot. So what if it’s your head: it’s still a head shot! Squeeby also sent this in.

If you find that an enemy is spawn camping with the sniper rifle you can melee right as you spawn and your head and body will move and they will miss the shot leaving you able to get to cover and take him out.

If you have a sniper in hand, and an enemy is hiding behind an object. Remember that if his/her leg is visible, shoot their leg to take out shields easily.

If you’re near a ledge on a level such as Gemini on the outside part near the teleporter or Waterworks with the huge underground lake, or any other level with a ledge, and you have a valuable weapon like the sword or sniper rifle, you might want to jump off the edge to prevent the other team from getting your weapons. This is useful if you are about to die and you have no chance of surviving because now the other team can’t get the valuable weapons that you had that they could have used to boost their game.

Also, don’t forget about the overshield on Rumble Pit. A lot of people don’t think that there is an overshield because it is a free-for-all game. In double team there is no overshield but in Rumble Pit, there is, so remember that, because it is a good way to stay alive longer and get a couple more kills that you couldn’t have gotten without the overshield. So thanks guys, great show, and shoutout to all my friends.

Yo podtacular! First order of business: you guy rock more than a drunken weasel eating cheese!

Now that we have the formalities out of the way, onto some tips. First off, I HAVE DISCOVERED SOMETHING AMAZING! Now, say you are dual-wielding a plasma rifle and an SMG. You would think that by tearing into an opponent with both at the same time would just kill the heck out of them in a short time, and usually it does. But in a random rumble game on Warlock, I decided to try firing them one after another.

To my amazement, first with the plasma for a second or two before adding the SMG kills them faster! Obviously the plasma is better for shields and the SMG for actual damage, but you would think that the second weapon would at least add a little damage. NOT SO! ALternating your fire provides the most . Now, the beauty of this is that by alternating your fire, you can reload/cool your other weapon while firing the other, for constant, extra-fast killerizing!

Always aim for the head, except when using the rocket launcher. If you don’t, the rocket will zoom by their head. If some one is shooting a rocket at you, usually they will jump before shooting. If you see this happen, jump when he does.

Use your radar. This may sound noobish, but you need to watch your radar. Watch out for an opponent lurking around a corner, and crouch when necessary.

Never frag alone. In any gametype, any map, you need to stick together. You wouldn’t storm an opponents base alone, would you? Likewise, its very helpful to have someone watching your back all the time, even in slayer.

Never get the sword, unless you want to be a sword-whore. Never get the shotgun-whore. Never get the sniper unless you want to be a sniper whore. Never get any weapon, unless you want to be a weapon-whore. Instead, why don’t you try to make peace with the enemy. Just do anything except be an anything-whore.

Don’t let the opposition get any of the vheicles. That will slow them down a bit. Either stick them or take a rocket to them.

Storm their base. Immediatly after the match, rush their base. They’ll be getting all the weapons, while your are busy stealing their flag or whatever.

when playing team slayer, and your entire team gets trapped on
foundation, and the other team controls one of the turrents, whats a
good strategy to take it back? ive played a lot of games where one team
gets wasted because they cant get their hands on BRs and their grenades
dont quite hit the right spots? rock on spleechecks

Map of the Week:

At the bottom of the ramp leading up to the middle of the sniper tower (where it connects to the flag bridge), the doorway near the edge has a little bit of wall before the fall. I was being chased by someone from the lower level, and as I ran up the ramp, I turned and tossed a plasma behind the short little side of the doorway. Because it was hidden, my pursuer ran right beside and EXPLODED. Since then, I’ve always thrown my plasmas right BESIDE doorways instead of in front of them, so that people wont realize how close they are to :-D

Best map of all time, hands down!

Learn all the places to jump here, the smallest jump can cut the time it takes to your destination point in half.

When playing oddball, have the person with the ball stand near the edge, so if they get killed, the ball will fall off.

POWER CORES! The ones near the sniper are especially deadly, in two ways; it can bring the sniper to the offence faster in CTF or Assault, and can kill whoever in within the radius of the blast. The ones in the middle of the map are great too; they can bring the plasma pistol to you faster.

Know the names of the places on this map, here are the main points:

1. Elbow: The Small part that sticks out of the side of the map, the place where the bomb arm pad in single bomb.
2. BR Tower: The big tower where the BR spawns, the offensive starting point.
3. Upper Lift: Top level where the lift takes you.
4. Lower Lift: The room where the lift is.
5. Green Room: The shotgun spawn room.
6. Sniper Tower: Self explanatory.
7. Library: The room above the sword

In team slayer, grouping is essential here, usually the sniper tower is the best place to group up, as it is a major point in the map, and is not as wide open as other places, but still lures in enemies!

On the sniper tower there is a small ledge hanging off of the building, use this to cath your enemies by surprise.

Most of the doorways on lockout have that little part sticking out of it, jump on the nearest railing then on to this part of the doorway to get to cirtain locations faster.

Camping with the sword works well here, there are countless places where you can wait for your enemy to come, then stab them in the back.

Throw your grenades here as much as you can, from personall experiances most of my cross-map stciks have happened here.

When sniping, dont snipe from the sniper rifle respawn point, but go back down the ramp or snipe from across the map at the other high spot. If you spawn in the big room thats divided into three parts and across from the room with the lift, drop down through the hole, because that’s where the sword starts.

If you get the sniper, get off that parapet, quick as you can. Two or three shots with a BR and about that with an SMG wil blow up those canisters behind you. Bye, bye sniper. Better yet, get the sniper, back up, blow up those canisters yourself, and then you can stay there for a few shots. Go grab that sword or shotty, pick up a magnum or plasma rifle if you can, and most important, use grenades with strategy. Lob nades in front of enemies that are on other walkways around or below you and then finish them off; especially if you’ve got a BR. Great way to get some kills. Camping in that “tilted-wall” room won’t work against anybody but n00bs anymore.

when playing in double team stick together and communicate as soon as you see a enemy to have the best chance of winning. A big factor which helps is – knowing the map!! Know where all the short cuts are, espically the one on top of the BR tower where you can jump from the middle of the map to the top of it, this saves valuable time in objective based games. Lockout is also a great map for hiding around corners, so if you have the sword or the shotgun camp near a corridor and BLAM, shoot or beat down the unsuspecting enemy who goes around the corner. Also be aware of the energy cores, in particular the three on the sniper tower can be deadly, so make sure you destroy them if you plan on hanging around there.

The area where the sniper spawns may seem like a good sniping area, but you are too open to attack. Notice those blast cores behind you?

Although it makes you cheap and a noob, there are alot of closed areas on lockout. Grab the sword, before the other teams noob does.

With the BR that spawns at the base opposite to the sniper, it’s easy to take out an opposing sniper. Notice the blast cores behind them? Aim for those.

Dueling may be fun in the middle “arena”, but you need to watch because it is easy to get tripleteamed, od blown up with one of the blast cores litteres around the middle area.

Don’t take the grav lift unless your guys have the sniper. Chances are an opponent will be waiting to say hi with a bullet to your face.

The walkway between the bottom of the grav lift and the bottom of the sniper tower is too open. Don’t go there unless you must. Consider different ways to get to the tops of the 2 towers. Consider alternate ways so you may surprise your enemy.

When going into a room, check to see whose in there. If you know an opponent is in the next room, crouch toi sneak up on him.

Two good dual-weild combos I recomend on this map are Plasm Pistol and SMG and Plasma Riffle and SMG. These can be easily used to dispose an enemy if you can sneak up on him.

Grenades are always handy to have. Espically in close quarterts, remember to pick them up.

Get the shottie! You won’t believe how handy this is in all the close quarters!

this is the best map in the game by far, fo any gamtype.

when playing ctf on if you are on offence from whereever you spawn, throw grenades to where the BR is near the lift, most of the time at least one person will go up to get the BR and it someone does he will most likely be killed. then go up onto the BR tower if anyone goes for the sniper shoot the fusion cores, and bam, instant kill.

when on defence go up the lift quicly get the BR move to left away from the fusion core and throw grenade up towards the Br tower if you do it right and there is someone up there it will either kill and or take shields right down. if sometries to go threw the middle shoot the fusion cores, and BR him. try and either get the sniper yourself or tell a team mate to, becaues it can be very effective, if used right.

Have a sniper on the at where the sniper spawns, (make sure the fusions cores are blown up first) or anywhere around the sniper spawn.

Also have one person to go on the BR tower with a BR or ‘noob’ combo to kill anyone trying to get the sniper or the flag, but make sure no one comes up behind you.

When in a simple slayers game either go for a BR, sniper or sword, these weapons are most effective on this map, if you can superbonce take the sniper up, and unless you are a noob you are pretty unstopable, but you need to be a good sniper.

whenever there is an enemie in the BR tower either; bounce them of the slope and at the front , this usaully works well, and them throw one further back to get the fusion cores, which will kill them, i have hard countless triple and double kills by doing this.

rember that there are fusion core all over this map, so use your grenade effectivly. if you have a BR throw a grenade at someone feet to take of their shield and then one pop to the head will them, it is faster the the ‘noob’ combo but does take skill, but the ‘noob’ is effective on this map aswell.

A tactic i use sometimes in double-team, is when you have the lead, and they have the good weapons, and you dont want to risk losing, have one person superbounce (if they can,) then when you are up hide so you are not in sight and then have the other perosn quit so it is just you, and then just camp up there untill the game ends.

This works in any double team game if you have a good lead and there isnt much time left.

Here’s a good Lockout tip for taking out those BR whor…er…”Ladies of the Evening”. Many people camp with a BR or Sniper on the roof of the structure on the sword side of the map. A good way to take them out is to ricochet frags off the diagonal slope (On the front of the structure) so that they bounce up and explode in the target’s face. If that doesn’t kill them, give ‘em a quick BR in the head to finish it.

Other than that, know all the hiding spots on this map, and check them often to make sure no-one’s there. And, as Nick said, know all the good places to jump here, you can get across the map in 15-20 seconds if you know how to move.

Well there’s a buncha obvious stuff other ppl will say so lesse about some less obvious things… Well, when I’m on the very top of the BR tower, I always watch for people coming in from the front underneath, and when they try to go for the sword, I leap down onto the little bridge behind them and ASSASSINATE them.

On either slayer or CTF, it’s really fun to jump from the corner of the center or the side of sniper or Teleport towers onto the little elbow and surprise people” ESPECIALLY if you have the sword and slice them mid fall—“hahaha the n00b fell!” WHACK! “No I didn’t!”

On rockets matches, I use the spin cycle method: go into the lower teleporter (killing anyone inside, of course), and go up the teleporter. On your way up, throw a slightly up, and it’ll be flung into the middle. If there is any one the top, kill them before landing, and as soon as you hit the ground, jump into the little space down to the lower level, firing rockets at anyone in the center who’ open. Spin around in mid fall, and run into the lower room to repeat. i get a ton of kills this way, and because I never stop moving, it’s hard to die.

If you jump onto the thin energy core at the bottom of the teleporter, you can then jump onto the thin ledge above the door and immediately crouch jump onto the little slant by the roof. By crouching up there with a BR/Sniper/Rockets, you can blow the crap out all the people who run throgh with out bothering to look up there. Of course, it does take some practice, and if the energy core is gone you can’t do it, but when it works it works well.

I sent an email before with a randon lockout tip, but let me just repeat it here cuz this is the Lockout episode: I was being chased at the bottom of the sniper tower, and I ran up the ramp. I turned and threw a plasma at the door, hoping to stick my pursuer. The landed behin the little edge of the doorway, and because he didn’t see it, the other guy ran right beside end exploderized. THUS THE TIP: throw your plasmas right BESIDE doorways and people will still go through them.

A very odd but useful sniper spot: the corner of the “elbow!” Believe it or not, people almost never look down there, and if you have the sniper, you can pick off people at the bottom of the teleporter, the ramp to the teleporter, the edges of the center platform, the top of the sniper tower, the outside edges of the middle sniper tower, and room at teh bottom f the sniper tower, the bridge to the bottom of the sniper tower, AND the ramp up the sniper tower. With all of these areas, you’re bound to have a target, and when people are being sniped, they always look UP. Okay, thassall for now. Keep on truckin Podtacular, and jr98664, 10 points for also wanting morrowind on a desert island.

Random Tip of the Week

If you have purchased the new Santana do not load it onto your computer because the album producer company put software on it that can damage or destroy your computer. For more information visit www.santana.com

This tip is for Super Mailman Adventures. Make sure that you always pick up the water bottle power up so that your mouth doesn’t get dry when you’re licking envelopes. Also, buy some steaks at the first shop you find so that you can use them to distract dogs when they chase you. On level 13, when you fighting the Evil Giant Mailbox boss, make sure that you try to put mail into it only when it opens up, and try large packages also to do more damage. Hold right trigger when making tight turns in you mail truck, it will help you to make the turns. Those are my tips.

MY Tip of the week: For my other fav. game: “The Flushinator 2: Evil Toilet Strikes Back”-

Secret Tip: In order to flush the toilet backwards like they do down under in Australia, You hold down both black and white buttons, along with L & R. Then walk up to that toilet, Press A and watch your magic take place.
Possibly Unknown Tip: If you hit “B, X, B” in quick succesion then hit A, you can flush twice as fast. But be careful, if you do this 5 times in a row, the toilet will blow up and kill our beloved hero, The Flushinator
