Podtacular Tips Show: Containment (Episode 40)

N00b tips

Newb tip o’ da week-

When driving the warthog, Remember, Gas is on the right, brake is on the left. And sometimes, there is a clutch, but not on a warthog, because it has no clutch, because the warthog is made of space-age technology… and/or it only has one gear, which makes it not space age. that makes it STUPID.

First off I would like to say I love your show. Not that I’ve
actually listened to any other Halo Podcasts but this one seems to be
very good. Anyway here is a noob tip: When you are on terminal avoid
the train at all times except when grabbing the sword or crossing.
But first you will want to make sure the train with either come on the
other side or it isn’t coming for a while.
Thanks Podtacular,

I apologies I sent in a noob tip for Terminal here is a tip for Containment:
A noob tip for Containment is make sure either someone on your team or
no one has the rocket launcher before getting into any vehicle
especially the banshee.
Thanks Podtacular,

ok for all you noobs out there here is the most key tip: Listen to Podtacular, listen to Foo Mo Jive and Spelchek’s tips and DO THE TIPS!

Campaign Tip

My campaign tip that I found always helps is to rush through levels on legendary. If you’re almost done, and theres a bunch of tanks in front of you, make sure you have sputnik skull on and grenade jump over them. This has saved me many hours of walking and frustration.

General Tips

Yo.
I have a little tip if you have a party of 4 and your just fooling around in split screen, but it would also work on Live. Instead on playing on maps that are even too big for the 4 of you, try playing in one of the bases in Containment. As long as you make sure everyone stays in the base, you could have a pretty fun game. This may be a good idea for oddball, since there are lots of places to hide, but in the small area there’s sure to be a crapload of action.

Keep on doing whatever you do,
Lemone

Hey guys, UnderWing here. I love the show, but one tip that gets surprisingly little spotlight is a simple one that is extremely useful: Grenades to move weapons. You’ve seen it in the videos-guys who throw a grenade, then 5 seconds later have the sword from across the map. You’ve talked about it in Zanzibar, getting the sword and such. One of my favorites, though, is in Burial Mounds. From offense, it’s possible to throw a sticky from the right hill to get the rocket launcher, without getting sniped. This one’s hard, but it becomes easier if you go to the covered side of the bridge and throw a grenade barely past the launcher-It will come straight to you. Like I said, this prevents getting sniped, and if you’re good, you can get the rockets without people noticing, and then take out those pesky turrets.

Of course, using grenades like this is extremely useful on any level, with a little experimentation. I strongly suggest, once you know where the power weapons are, that you learn the exact angles to get them without exposing yourselves. I’ve seen people (on Live) throw a grenade and get the rockets from the outside of Zanzibar’s fan… thing… It’s crazy, takes lots of time to master just one angle, but can give you the upperhand by giving you weapons more quickly (READ: rocket launcher on Coag). Frags are, in my experience, better at throwing objects farther, but the stickies will stay where they hit (small brideges from an angle). Even if it’s just getting a weapon away from an enemy, this is great.

Works on ammo too.

If you are using a ghost, you wanna try and splatter people, right? But it’s hard, becuase your foe wants to jump. Try boosting after he jumps.

Use the right weapon for the right situation. You wouldn’t take on a sniper with a SMG. Use your head.

Don’t take the sword. It just identifieds your noobieness.

Try to take out your opponents vheicles, before they do it to you.

Rush all the good weapons, duh.

You can throw the flag through the gate on Zanzibar. I love freaking out the enenmies out by doing that.

Always play matchmaking with some buddies. THis gives you ae huge one-up on your opponents.

quit bagging needlers! please look at my stats for my good games today (not the bad ones!)(12/10). i played a slayer game on colossus today, only used dual needlers and got 18 kills and only 2 deaths! trust me, if u can use them, they work! pay out on something else!(sentinel beam!) p.s. i hav a couple of needler songs on my site www.freewebs.com/skibur (downloads page)
anyway, cya ;) NEEDLERS RULE! (ipod batteries suck!!)

when playing capture the flag, a good way to clear out the flag room is to first stick yourself with a plasma grenade, to do so stand at a doorway and throw the grenade up, it bounces down and sticks onto your head, then you have three seconds to run into the flag area and suicide bomb yourself to kill the people guarding the flag; make sure you have a friend with you to pick up the flag after the coast is clear

A watched banshee spot never spawns! shortest tip yet

Map of the Week: Containment

OK, this map us basically only BTB, my tactic is to split the team up so r takes the left caves and the other 4 takes the rocket path, this way the 4 right will act as a distraction while left can sneak in , help out right team, and steal the flag/arm the bomb. Another tip is to never drive the tank into the base, I hate it when people do that. It is way more productive to keep ot outside, that way you can kill their tank and keep people in the trench so it will be harder to attack, hiding it in the tank only forces yourself into a bottleneck and get s yourself killed.

by “r” I ment “4” and by “hiding it in the tank” “I ment hiding it in the base”

The best thing to do on Containment for Assault is to go to the opent base first!!! after that you crouch in that little corner were the bomb area is located, you’re bomb well arm after you have to go in the middle then the bomb is ARMED!! BABY!!!

(OliveSk8) or (xXxITCxXx)

Stay out of the big middle areas as much as possible. If you venture out to get a territory or weapon, get back to the surrounding caves or bases as quick as possible. The middle areas are much to exposed.

Hey this is michael a.k.a. mafia inc. guy (gamertag : xbs13) tip: when playing an objective based game. like capture the flag if your team is on the offene, go through the cave on the side. and if your team is on defence. cover the cave area.

This is my least favorite map of all time, other than Backwash.

Know what the names of the Territoires ares are here, it is a gametype in BtB, so it’s good to have an advantage.

This is one of those places where using different colour armour is good, using white armour here pretty much blends you in with the map.

Lots of rocket ammo to be had here, on the bridges near the rockets, and the center bridge.

The camo kind of refects the white, so it can be a little easier to see that annoying ivisible dude.

Watch out for power cores when driving the warthog! You can’t stress this enough, it is really a pain to have a huge respawn time, or even get booted because you accidently slipped into one and killed everyone is the full warthog. I have even seen times when people with the flag guy in thier warthog do this, and it costed them the game.

On the contrairy, the cores are great when you have the sniper, there are the only cores that can kill someone with one core.

REMEMBER!
Overshield and Camo DON’T MIX!

The tank is great here, be sure to use it if you can, just watch out for rockets.

The flag is very close to the teleporter, keep this in mind, it can only take 5 second before the time your flag is safe in your base, to the time its out in the open, near the middle of the map.

Use the Gauss to defend the flag, it can really be conviniant, I mean, what’s the point of bringing it out of the base when you’re on defense?

Thats all for now!! Keep on podcasting!

-Nick of Time

Lets hear it for variety! This map offers everything from close quarters to wide open spaces to air battles. You need to be sufficicnt at all forms of combat on this map.

On objective type games, you need to bring out the big guns. If you are on defense, bring the tank inside your base, and park it right on top of the flag/bomb area. Park your worthog between the portal and the flag/bomb area. Complete pwnage.

There are some major holes on defense on this map. You need to guard the caves on the left and right, the gate out front, and an air assult from the banshee.

The sniper is a great asset to have, provided your enenmies are complete idiots. If you are hoofing it, take the caves.

I’ve noticed people hardly ever take the small caves on the left if you are facing the base. It is a little more open then using the other caves, but it is really effective.

Grab those rockets! They come in real handy to take down that annoying Banshee or worthog.

If you are using the portal, have somebody watibng on the other end in a worthog to run you home. It’s not fun runnging away with the flag with 4 guys chasiung after you, only to get killed after coming out the other end.

This map can be a good map or a good map gone bad or a bad map. Turrets can own on this map is
used correctly.
Have one guy take the BR and guard the turret while he is shooting and another go for rockets. The last person on your team shourd go for the tank. If done correctly and quickly you can defend your base pretty well and make sure your flag is safe in CTF games.

next I have a tip for Containment, When on Defense, One person hops in the tank, while a teammate opens the gate, bring the tank into the base and use the tank to camp at the flag/assault spot at your base.

its key that you use rockets to take out the other teams tank… or better yet… control the other teams tank. good job with the podcasts guys! keep it up.

hey guys. first of all i just have to say that contaiment is not the greatest level, its way to big, sidewinder was better, cause you no, you could like be in the warthog and slip around on the ice and stuff like that. i only have a n00by tip for containment. k, just like watch out for those triangular objects/mines on the map, they can be a doozy, not sumthin you’d want to melee at close range. its fun if your in the turret at your base and you see a warthog comin try and blow up the mines when they drive by them cause when you shoot the mines, they tend to explode, which then causes the people in the warthog to die. alright thats my tip for containment. im out.

In 4v4 Team Snipers, a good strategy is to have your team split up into two pairs. Each pair controls one side of the map’s caves. The two players in each pair watches each others’ back, and alerts the other teammates of enemy locations. By being in the caves, you stay out of the wide open middle area, and out of the heavily spawned/easily accessible bases.

Also, in team snipers, always pick up the beam as your secondary, there’s no reason not to. if for some reason, you miss four shots, switch over and continue firing. Having the beam as your secondary will also allow you to use the fast reload glitch with the human sniper.
And please, use the microphone for communicating enemy positions and powerup status…not ridiculous “no scope” and “double kill” crap. What a waste of time. Great show, guys.

the best thing on this map is to go for the sniper, and try to eliminate the other sniper, also, it helps to be have control of both tanks (if possible) and take advantage of the mines whenever possible to take out warthogs people etc. also, if you are on defense, if you open the gate, you can let the tank get inside the base, this helps fend off attackers coming form the tunnels aswell as up front. n p2, ill be back on hopefully on christmas (when im getitn my 360, hopefully it works :P)

For this map, the things I tend to remember:

Lots and lots of kills come through the left cave.

This map is huge enough that you pretty much only get 2 good runs when on offense.

Watch for the guy standing on the roof of YOUR base, with a sniper.

Rockets, BR, bomb, planted.

It is almost always a horrible idea to rush into the base by yourself. Most of the time the bulk of the
enemy team is in there ready to kill you. And if you are going solo to get the flag out the teleporter,
make sure you sneak in . It also helps if you go into the base in an unusual way. More often than not,
the enemy will see you though and you’re screwed.

On Containment, what I find really helps is to get to the other base using the trench in the middle. Its really hard to snipe you, and your not as open to attack.

And if your on defense, bring the tank into the base and near the flag/bomb arming spot. This way you can shoot anyone trying to get there, and if they do get in, put it on top of the flag so they cant get it.

I’m not going to say it, but superbouncing on this map really helps too, not for sniping, but for scouting out the location of the enemy.

(hint-hint) Everybody uses the tunnel.
And you should too, its expected, but the best spot to get into the base.

Random Tip of the Week

I do, however, have a random tip. This is for a game called “Murakumo” for the Xbox. Tip: Don’t fly into walls. Also, if you can find all the “Super Happy Fun Hour” videotapes, you’ll unlock a special Hello Kitty mech!

OK, m game is called “snuggles the 5th telletubbie”. Snuggles is a dark teletubby who feasts on flesh and fried chiken. in level 9, when fighting the giant fluffy purse that tries to give you hugs. Hop on Todd the toadstool and use your dark tellevision power to show scenes of nuklear war and other scenes youd expect in Doom. You can also use this new power to make happy things depressed and thus turn them into a depressed minion of darkness to do your bidding, such as give hugs, than eat them. These tips are very useful and I use them all the time.
