Podtacular Tips Show: Zanzibar (Episode 37)

N00b tips

I’ve a general tip that works only after you have been killed. Once you die there’s about a 5 second respawn time, instead of looking at your lifeless body, hit the “A” button to see where your other teammates are on the map. Once you re-spawn, you’ll have a general idea as to your team’s location; sometimes just looking at the icons on the map don’t help.

also, foo mo says: hold back and hit A repeatedly to check kills and cycle through players on your team at the same time. great for knowing what the bomber or flag guy is up to, and where your power weapon holders are.

noob tip for the week: download the 1.1 autoupdate in order to have a better chance of winning on xbox live. thank you

General Tips

Always always always fire an smg in bursts. It increases accuracy and doesn’t cause your reticule to rise.

When firing rockets jump before you fire. This reduces the possibility of the rocket going into the air and being completely wasted(hey rocket ammo is hard to find and very valuable so use all your rockets to the full) another tip is that if you find any de-levelers while they’re throwing grenades at their feet, run into their grenades. If you’re lucky you will be given the option to boot him. Also he will get both suicide and betrayal penalty. If you can’t boot him you can hold him up and hopefully get back the points you lost. But if your whole team is doing it I can’t help you; just quit, or keep on playing(but it will be a really crap game). Sorry if I sound a bit geeky but I heard in your recent pods that the grammer really counts:)( Ju Blaine: thank you) Anyway your podcasts rock and I love them!

Covenant weapons are much better for taking an opponent’s shield. You should try to keep one Covenant and one Human weapon at all times.

Covenant weapons overheat. This means you need to not keep your hand on the trigger, allow it to cool sometimes. Don’t get stuck with one SMG because your Plasma Rifle is cooling down. But this does have it’s advantages, because you never have to reload. Just keep your head in battle.

If higher level players have taught me anything, it’s that you need to know who is on your team. Smart people go into matchmaking with people they know.

I’ve realised that to win at neutral flag on Sanctuary, you need to have half your team rush the flag, one guy get Sniper, and the other get the shotgun.

After you lock-on a vehicle with the Rocket Launcher, quickly flip your view up and fire (so you shoot the rocket straight up). If you do it right, the rockets will fly into the air then track down the vehicle. With this method, the rocket comes in from a high angle instead of zooming horizontal to the ground. This makes the rockets track much better. Also, there is much less chance of something blocking your rocket (like a rock or hill on coag.) I found this on www.halo2forum.com a great place to post about halo, that is, until podtacular get their forums!

when you have good weapons and have no chance of survival . Jump off the edge of the level that way
the opposing team cannot get the weapon and you wont get a suicide penalty because the person will
be still shooting you when you go off.

Map of the Week: Zanzibar

I just wanted to point out that zanzibar is on the east coast of africa, and africa is filled with lions, cheetas, hyenas, and other beasts so you may want to pick up the shotgun early on. I havent seen any lions in this map yet, but be careful in case you meet one.

Defensive Tactic For CTF or Assualt:

When the round starts one person should rush the rocket launcher and then that person should camp on the stairs defending the Flag/Bomb point.

Another person should rush the sniper, when they get the sniper they should go up the dirt mound on the side of Camp Froman, camp out and call enemies he doesn’t get kill and are heading into the base so the rocketeer can take them out. (Ju Blaine: No idea what he’s trying to say here.)

Another person should rush the shotgun below the rocket launcher spawn and then rush for the active camo. Proceed to take out the enemy sniper and any other enemies on the sea wall.

The last person should grab the BR in the base and then start to head out and follow the guy who has the shotgun; grab the enemies sniper and spawn camp on top of the sea wall. At this point the sniper at Camp Froman should head onto the sea wall to hold the enemy down and kill them.

While this is happening the rocketeer should stay inside and keep a look out for enemies who slip by the spawn campers.

If playing capture the flag on offense first thing is get big door open, then just run in every time you spawn. For defense get a sniper and hide at their base, this way when the flag guy comes you can pick him off and change locations.

Alright! Zanzibar, my favourite map.

In a 1-flag CTF game, most offense players make a fatal mistake. They try to escape with the flag by running out on the Camp Froman side of the map. If your team has lost all it’s vehicles, then it’s a very bad idea for the flag carrier to take that route. There is very little cover, meaning the enemy is free to rain hell on you from their turrets. Rather, if you have the flag, take the left side of the map to get home, it’s ridden with rocks and other forms of cover. If you can get your team to stay with you on that side of the map, you’ll be pretty safe all the way home!

If you’re on defense in any type of objective game on this map, use the Camp Froman sniper spot as much as possible, you have an awesome view of the entire base and surrounding areas. Even if you see an enemy entering the base and you don’t manage to snipe them, you can still tell your team exactly where he is. Just make sure you have a shotgun or something with you, for when your enemies try to come and take you out.

Until Next time, keep Buttrushin’!

If you have the sniper rifle go over to the bridge that is connected to the wall that seperates the two bases. If you don’t have the sniper watch out for an enemy sniper the may be in the same spot.

one tactic i have found mighty useful is, especially when you have the bomb is, take the bomb and use the fan as an elevator. most of the time the other team already has gotten rockets and sword and they won’t really come up that way again. It is a good idea to crouch as soon as you make the jump to their base from where the rockets are. You can usually drop down and at least get the bomb mostly armed before they notice. It also helps of your teammates [butt]rush into the base from the ther enterances, that way the enemy thinks that you might be w/ them. Using the fan as an elevator can also some times help you get rockets if you are quick enough. One time I rushed the fan w/ a ghost, got rockets and sword. Their team just thought that another teammate had them, so I went in the base and wiped them all out.

Take the rockets or warthog or shotgun, and shoot the pillars in the building. If there is a warthog outside the gate, use it, shoot through the gate, you can. If you must, use grenades. Make sure you blow up both the bottom and the top. Once you have blown out the pillars, you can drive a tank in the base, or stand on top the blown out part, and kill anyone that comes at you. When you are standing here, you are practically invincible, because the only way to come up and assinate you is by the gate switch. Just make sure to look out for the sword.

The first thing you should do on offense is rush with a Ghost and get the big door open. Then you can rush with the ‘Hog. Just do this quick or the rocket guy on the other team will pwn you.

On defense, get the rockets and camp in the little corner right below where the switch is to open the door. Crouch and wait until someone comes in and rocket them good. You’re pretty safe in that spot unless a sword guy sneaks up on you.

A general team tip for this map. If your initial rush fails to yeild a score, regroup. Don’t just all go off in different directions trying to grab a flag or plant a bomb by yourself. It hardly ever works and is a waste of time. Instead, get coordinated and try it again.

Honestly, I’m one of those guys that just goes in by himself with a SMG trying to grab the flag while it’s being defended by a sword guy, rocket guy and sniper. Do as I say, not as I do.

Here is my tactic for team slayer on Zanzibar. No matter where your team starts, go to beach. This is important, EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO TO THE BEACH! Everyone stays at the far end of the beach, next to where the vehicles spawn. Appoint a good sniper, BR guy/gal, Plasma Cannon guy/gal, and the last guy/gal gets the shotgun. The sniper and BR go upstairs on the walkway and wait for the other team. Position the Warthog against the backstairs so that the plasma cannon can fire along the beach, but can be blown up to block the stairs. Blow up the Ghost. The shotgun guy/gal stays at the back stairs. When the other team comes, the sniper and BR unload on them. The plasma cannon is used against Ghost and stragglers of the other team. If the Warthog is destroyed, then it also blocks the stairs and creates a difficult obstruction for the other team. The shotgun guy/gal covers everyone from a close attack and provides revenge for fallen comrades. The strategy works if everyone stays put!!! If one person wants to run around the map and become cannon fodder for the other team, then you can lose. Otherwise, this tactic works because the other team can not kill everyone at once and, usually, they get taken out before they can do anything. Also, watch out for grenades. The kills will not be high for everyone, but the team wins.

In my opinion, this is one of the best maps, as it is versitile and fun to play on!

This is another one of those maps where the sniper can be dominant in a good player’s hands, so grab it whenever you can.

People superbounce here a lot, so it’s good to know these superbounces if you need to get to them, but usually a good sniper can kill them without having to do it. On offence it is essential to rush the froman sniper, sniping defender through the gate can really help the offense.

This is also one of the few maps that lacks the noob combo, just a good thing to remember. The defensive team starts with alot more decent weapons then the offensive team here, dont forget to get these weapons when on defense: sword, shotgun, rockets, and sniper. If you can’t find any of those, there is a BR on the top level of the base, and 2 plasma rifles, one by the rock, and one near a top turret.

The gate is a crucial factor on this level, ome time when on offence it is good to keep it closed, then pass the flag through to a carrier waiting outside, this should buy you some well needed time.

Rushing with the ghost can really have some good turnouts, just make sure you go right away, as a defender usually gets the rockets right after you are in the base.

Use grenades to knock down the sword on offense, this could really cripple a lower skilled defense, due to the fact the sword is a great defensive tool.

Don’t forget that the Wraith is on during Covie gametypes, the offense should rush it right away as it a great offensive tool, but it can also really help a defense. If you destroy the pillars around the flag spot, you can fit the wraith over the flag, so they must move or destroy it before being able to reach the flag.

Hey guys, love your show. My tip for zanzibar is…... do the super bounce when you are on defense, especially when it is Assault, because it is super easy to throw a couple nades down at the arming spot and blow up the bomb armer. Also, another fun thing I like to do is, if I’m just screwing around and I’m on offense, I like to rush the base with the ghost, go to the left side of the base, run up that little opening, grab the BR, break that glass, then quickly do the super bounce, its priceless when it works becasue I own all the guys in the base and they’re all like “hey, where this guy shooting us from” alright, keep up the good work….. Podtacular 06 gigidy gigidy

Hey guys! My tip is: Go for the sniper on the outside of your base. Do this at the beginning of the game and you’ll dominate if the other team. But you will only dominate if you move after every sniper shot. Thats my tip. It may be small but it works! lol. And remember..BUTT RUSH THE BASE!

If you are on Defense, you may realize that you have a warthog. For some reason, a lot of people miss this. Use it to stop a good rush by the offense.

Sniper+Camp Froman= a good view of the entire map. And yes Spelchek, head does equal dead.

For a good offense team, you really don’t need to open the gates. You can throw the flag through the gate. Very useful if the enemy isn’t expecting it.

Rockets by the big fan. Sniper on Camp Froman. Get them.

Ok, I got a cool sniper spot. Head to the area with 2 ramps close to each other near the beach. Jump on top of the arch looking structures. At one side of this structure, there is a little slanted piece of land. You can easily jump on to it and snipe from it.

Not handy at all to do, but still fun. I call it Tank Pinball. You need a game with overshields and a scorpion tank. Now drive the tank around to the other side of the big fan. Drive the tank right into the path of the fan blade. If you jam the tank between the fan blade and the little support structure for the bridge, the tank will go crazy. If you do it right, the tank ricochets off of walls, the map ceiling and the invisible walls. Just don’t die, or it takes forever for the tank to respawn. A very good time waster.

If driving a hog over the dirt ramp through the fan blades, try to time it so you don’t hit the blades.

Try to get the rockets. One of those nasty ghosts going after your hog? Take him out. Is the defense camping with a hog right in front of the gate? Not any more.

Do not let the enemy get the sniper. Because alot of this map is open terrain, giving the other team the sniper is almost giving them the game.

Use the blast cores to your advantage. Need I say more?

I love this map, when on defense, rush the active camo. That way you can eliminate enemy stealth and maybe kill their shotgun and sniper.

Ok this is what I do in EVERY objective game of Zanzibar if I am on offense. I run up the broken stairs and get the BR. Then I run into the tunnel on the left and head for the opening. There you should see the other guy getting the sniper. Just chuck one frag towards him and the core thingies should blow up and deal lots of damage or kill him. If it doesn’t kill him then just shoot him once or twice with your BR to finish him. Then run quickly and get the sniper and look for the guy getting rockets. For me a lot of the times I can see him and I just snipe him. If you are successful in sniping him then run up the dirt mound on the side of camp Froman and snipe any other bad guys foolish enough to try and kill you. Once after killing about 5 guys with your sniper they will be discouraged to come after you. And remember once you kill the rocket guy they will most likely be dropped so tell your team mates to come and get them. If you are able to do everything I just told you, you will have both snipers and rockets in your possession plus the other team inside of their base waiting for you. So this is my strategy for offense on objective games.

Ok don’t worry this is a pretty short tip. When on defense on objective games run up the stairs, from
there you can either go up the ramp towards rockets, to the left where the BR is and where people like
to superjump, or to the right where the big hole is in the wall. Well go left and before you get to the
hole, to your right there is a door that leads outside. Hide there in the door and wait. Sooner or later
the camo guy should walk by the door your hiding in to open the gate. There you can assasinate him as
he walks by and…thwack! No more camo guy.

I have some tips for the bar-de-zanzi
1) On CTF or Assualt NEVER take the ‘hog always get one person to get the ghost up to the camo and then the camo guy can either go get the flag (killing the rocket guy on the way). Only when the rocket guy is dead or the camo guy has the rockets all the other players get the ‘hog and drive it to the base (like a warthog on acid). Then either defend the bomb guy or take the flag dude back.
2) On a match of zombies there is a way to get on top of the wheel WITHOUT super boncing or doing any type of glitch. What you do is: use the propeller to get on top of the bridge that you can knock down, then if you’re facing in the direction of the explosive hinge go to the top right hand corner. Get to the very end of it and then turn 90 degrees to your left then directly up at the wheel. If you look closly you can see the wheel is not actually round but is made up of lots of straight sides. Look down to the next corner and jump towards it. Now you’re up there convince a team-mate to blow the hinge so now-one else can get up.

In slayer games get the sniper on your side and try to get the other team’s sniper. A good place to snipe is in the sea wall or by the active camo.

The active camo is very good for bomb games. You can go in and open the gate then arm the bomb.

Also get the rockets. You can take the stairs from the base with the gate to get rockets. A lot of people don’t know that there is rocket ammo in between 3 rocks buy the gate base.

And get the sword if you can. It is inside the windmill and can come in handy in CTF/Assault games.

When playing Assualt games go around the right passed the shotgun. Driving the warthog is just going to get you blown up by the rockets.

And vice versa for CTF. Running through the middle is the easiest way to get killed. Go to the left and grab the camo.

my tip for zanzibar is to know that whenever someone is on the bridge to the center of the fan, the brigde always creaks. so be aware of that, and becareful yourself if you are going for the sword. or you can be at the bottom of the big fan and throw a sticky in where the sword is, the sword will be thrown out too you, and you can damage or kill anyone in that hidden square who is going for the sword. ok that’s all. sweet show.

Crossing the bridge into the fan makes a lot of noise and immediately lets everyone know that someone is coming into the base. Therefore instead of blowing the bridge. Jump onto one of the blades as it comes past, then jump down to the rocket spawn. you can achieve total surprise and if you’ve got Active camo and shotgun can wreak havok inside there base allowing an easy bomb arm/flag steal!

Not in BtB, this map is crazy for big team battle, with so many people assault and ctf are sometimes impossible. The best strategy is to have the whole team rush the hole in the right side of the base and easily clear it all out.

Offensive Flag Strategy

Have two people at the beginning of the round rush the sniper at camp froman. The third player will grab the offense sniper, the fourth will grab the active camo and go into the base. The two with snipers will stay outside and cover the left (facing the beach from the base) door. The other two people will try to bring the flag out that door.
Once the flag is out the door, it is extremely easy to capture it because the snipers can easily kill anyone following the flag carrier.
Also, since it is on the invisible side door, the attacking players will spawn closer, usually just behind the active camo.
I have never failed to capture a flag on Zanzibar with 3 competant teammates using this strategy.

Random Tip of the Week

Dear Pop-tacular
Ive got a tip for Bubble Wrap Popper Deluxe:
When popping the bubbles try doing it row by row but watch out for those de-rankers on live they have mods which make people on there team pop super slow. When faced with multi button poppers try only using one finger because this reduces the chance of pressing the wrong button therefor inflating another bubble. Also with combo-button bubbles if you don’t get the right combo the first time move on and come back for it later.
Keep up the goooooooooood popping
(that gerbil on pot)
Bobolitch

When tying your shoe laces, the rabbit goes THROUGH the hole, not around it….silly

This is the map that spawned Team Bubble Bath..:-) When playing team Bubble Bath, make sure you jump around singing ” I’ll Tumble For Ya ” by the Culture Club ( SpelChek loves Boy George ). This will confuse the other team and force them into a cha-cha trance. It works beautifully if everyone does it all at once.
