Podtacular Tips Show: Beaver Creek

General Tips

i also have an idea that i havnt tried yet. Its kind of crazy but if it works its pretty cool. when ur team mate has the flag on a level like midship and hes the base have him take the flag and stick him in the back and have him jump. if it works like i think it will it’ll launch the flag and if you get good at it you can have a guy ther to recieve it. It would work best on midship because the base’s are close, and you start with plasma gernades.

this is pretty funny but it works. if you cant kill a person because he is camping inside a base with a power weapon and you are willing to sacrafice a man this is the perfect tip for you. right before one of your teammates goes into the base or around the corner or whereever the guy is, stick your teammate on the back. your teammate will run in and KABOOM! he and the other guy die. suiside bomber. if you are realy lucky your teammate will die before the grenade blows up and his body will go through the other guys body but the grenade will not. this way you get the sticky medal as well.

also…

i heard you say last episode that no matter where you are sniping from you will always get sniped back. my friend and i were playing split screen and we figured out how to snipe through some walls. any walls that you can grab a flag through you can fire a sniper rifle through. you cant see but if you are realy good at using your radar you can time it realy well. also the little walls on turf in front of the medical tent, and in near the pelican on relic reflect sniper bullets. you can use these to shoot around walls or use it as a shield and have the sniper shoot himself. this is realy hard to do but you can reposition these buy punching them. you can avaoid headshots by sticking your head into a rock. i dont know why you can put your head in a rock but you can. you cannot see anything but rock. i would not recomend any of these durring matchmaking unless you are extremely desperate or all of your teammates have quit, but it is fun to use in custom games.

n00b tip!

A good strategy for any non-automatic weapons is to shoot until you see them die. Most people shoot the sniper once and check if the person is dead. The best thing is to shoot away until you know for sure that they are dead.

If you are playing a slayer game, the idea is not just to take your opponent, but also to survive. This is why you don’t want to get close unless you have to. Hold onto your long range weapons unless it is absolutly necessary to get in close.

If you must get close:

Try to keep one covenant weapon and one human weapon. Covie weapons take out sheilds and human weapons do more damage once the shield is down. Find which combo feels best to you and go for it.

Watch the melee. Your enemy may decide to take you down quickly with a melee followed by a few shots. Also, if you can get the jump on him and melee him whil in the air, your melee will do alot more damage.

Watch the grenades. Your opponent may decide to soften you up with a grenade before finishing you off. Also, if the battle gets really close, he may even try to stick you. Watch out for that.

Map of the Week: Beaver Creek

Foo Mo says:

I love this map for team slayer or rumble pit. I have a few general tactics:

Here’s a really good tip for CTF games. On top of every tele. is a roof-ish platform, if you stand on top of the opposite team’s tele. when they have your flag, you can just assasinate the flag guy when he comes through the teleporter to score. I’ve lost track on how many times I’ve done this but it’s really successful. (it also works if you have a shotgun or powerful close-range weapon if you don’t want to get all melee-ish. This tactic is kind of a last resort because if you kill the person with the flag at their base, the flag will still stay at the same spot, and you might be swarmed over by enemies during the time when you are guarding it at the opposite base, waiting for it to return (unless it’s classic, then you can just touch-return it). Hope this helps! Also, the name’s Stealth Zealot (I dunno why I can’t log in…)

Here’s a tip for the map I like to call Battle Crack. On CTF or bomb games, you need one guy on
your team to go use the teleporter and go to the other base as quick as possible. The other
members of the team should head out and distract the other team by going for the power weapons
(rockets , sniper, and shotgun). The lone guy should go around to the side where you can get on
top of the base and crouch walk up to the sky light right above the flag. If possible, have the
rocket guy meet you there so he can clear out any rif-raf that may be guarding the flag. Once that
is done, drop in, grab the flag and head out. Don’t go out the front. Run down and out the side and
back to the teleporter. Once at your base, you can run around and take the sky light route into
your base.

Also, always get the sticky grenades on your way out of the base. In Rumble Pit games, just get to
some high ground and try to get the rockets. There’s nothing better than jumping down on
someone while rocketing them and landing on their corpse.

i also have a tip for beaver creek. to get a good headstart on the other team have someone stand on that bump that raises tword the window in the roof and have 2-3 people jump off his head and get a headstart out of the base and possibly into the teleporter. it can really catch them off guard.

You may or may not know this, but at the bottom of each base is a BR. Very handy.

At the bottom of the ramp leading to the side entrance to either base are 4 Plasma grenades. Make use of those.

If worse comes to worse, you can use the needlers that lie near the ramp on the side of the base. But I would suggest grabbing either the SMG or Plasma Pistol near the teleporters at the back of both bases.

The BR is a very short walk from the Plasma Pistol, I wonder what you could do with both of those?

If you cant get the BR & the SMG is gone, take the magnum at the bottom of the ramps in front of the bases. One PP bolt with one magnum headshot equals a guick death.

The rockets are at the top of the big rock formation in the middle of the level. At the opposite side of the rockets lies the Sniper Rifle, need I say more?

If you are playing any sort of objective type game, use the tops of the bases to sneak in. Be careful, because jumping on top of the bases will give away your position on radar, if only for a moment.

A great defense involves keeping a few guys on top to guard the windows, and the teleporter.

Spam is good, If you see someone someone arming the bomb or about to take your flag, get on top of the base and near the back window. Spam that sucker with a few grenades and you should be safe.

If you own the power weapons on the map, you will pwn at an objective game.

The overshield can come in real handy if you want to sneak in through the top of the opponents
base…

Hate this map! Hate it! But you know, gotta play it.

Slayer on this map is intense always check the higer places while your on the ground cause most people like to hang up here. Rockets and Sniper pwn this map, just like every other one so try to get one of ‘em. And if you dont, dont worry a Battle Rifle and some gernades can easily take out a Sniper easily and the rockets run out fast so you’ve always got a chance to get them on the next respawn. Try to keep from running to the middle of the course because your just telling everyone where you are pratically yelling “Shoot me!”.

CTF on this map can be both really easy and both really hard. Teamwork is key, two people can easily take out an entire base and capture the flag. Try throwing the flag to the top with someone waiting for a pick up or out the window’s. Both work great.

If its a single flag or single bomb on this map and your on defence dont camp inside the base espcially inside the bomb/flag room because you will get killed. Have one of your guys get the rockets and Overshield at the same time just so the other team doesn’t have them, also he can get some easy kills on the way back providing he lived. Have another player grab the Battle rifle and head up top because thats where most people come from, having two people up there work better but work it to your team’s liking.

Shotgun’s good on here and remeber the fast respawn so always check for it.

Beaver Creek Combo, SMG/Pistol for dual weilding and just a lone Battle Rifle with some gernades works great.

playing this the most with people my own level, i find the plasma pistol to be the most effective on slayer and CTF (both offence and defence). With the overshield respawning every minute, the ability to destroy someone that thinks they are untouchable is great.
Also, on such a small map, and easy access to the pp by means of teh teleporter, there is no escuse not to use the pistol. So theres my tip, hope it helps someone out there

Use shadows, portals, and the overshield, since it’s so easy to get. You’d be surprised how many people don’t go for the overshield on this map. On top or behind the bases are good camping spots. Short and sweet guys.

Team games, stand on top of your base and snipe the other guys when they come out of their base. I got about 10-12 kills before the losers figured out where I was.

Get on top of base with sniper and a rocket launcher [found on top of rock archway] and use the walls as protection and snipe down all the other guys as they come out of their base.

Inroducing TELEFRAGING [wooooooo yay] the way you telefrag is you stand near one teleporter and wait for someone to come through. Timing is crucial. If you don’t do it just right you can kill the guy comming through.

this is supurmouse here with a tip that u absolutely must use, so there are these 2 holes on both sides of each base near the back up top, so they’re great for throwing granades in and out of but the best thing is on a ctf game u can throw the flag in and out of them so u can set up a chain where one guy thows the flag out, another grabs it and goes through the teleporter and then throws it in ur base. but to get the flag in and out of the hole takes some practise, the bottom of the flag-post must go throught the bottom of the hole

Dont Eat greasy food while playing. Also where are the beavers in the creek i dont see an beavers. I WANT THE BEAVERS.

One of the most helpful tips I have for this map is to time the over shield, it spawns every minute. If you time it well, you can get it every time it spawns, and not only will you have the overshield, but they wont be able to get it. The over shield really pwns on this level since most of the time there is no plasma pistol.

On this map the top of the bases are crucial whoever controls the top controls the level. In a CTF game grab the flag and throw it on top of the base through the skylight thing and have a teammate catch it and go through portal or just through it up there and eventually get it through portal. In the begining of the match run straight for the sniper or rockets because of the strength each pack but dont forget the overshield!! Also if its and MLG game check for plasma pistols cause combo can really come in handy on this map. Thats is my Tip Marksman911 out…

If you get the shotgun, go inside one of the bases and run around shooting people that walk in. In
a Rumble Pit game, you will own the bases, which are a main spawn point, and when somebody
wanders in, they will be easy to kill.

Another tip is to alway carry around a plasma pistol. If somebody get overshield you are screwed
unless you can find some way to take down their shields. And if YOU get the overshield, don’t
waste it. Go for the sniper while you can survive all those bullets coming towards you.

Hrm… Beaver Creek, not one of my favorite maps, but I have some tips for you.

The shotgun is the most underrated weapon on this map, and since it is not considered a “power weapon”, it respawns at a 45 seconds after someone picks it up, so it’s almost alwas there, and since it’s a human weapon setup on this map (most of the time) a BR con boe found in lots of places to match up with your shotgun. This setup is especially useful in the base.

Four Stikies are located on the left exit of each base, try to pick them up asap, as they can be a great defensive tool.

The top flag entrance is the best for bomb games, just get the rockets so you can clean out the base from above, then drop in for a quick easy arm.

Ok heres my tip: The rocket and sniper CONTROL this map. So the best way to avoid these weapon of mass destruction is to traverse through the tunnel’s below. If you run into someone in the tunnel, back up and chuck a grenade then run through. If you dont, then run forward smack once then sidestep, they swing forward and go past you. Melee them quicly in the back to end the fight. The run out and up to the ramp to the sniper spawn point. If someone is there then crouch if radar is on. Make sure you stick to the wall though. Run up and melee or shoot but do it quickly or you’ll attract attention. Take the weapon and jump on the roof of a building. Then your set.

A good flag steal tactic:

(Try to play with people you know)

Someone goes into the enemys base from the front or side entrances and lobs a few grenades into the flag area to shake up any enemies in the room and then grabs the flag and toss it out to a friend on the top of the base, he then runs through the teleporter and then turns around and tosses it up to a friend on top of your base and he then goes down and scores.

When you perfect it you can do it in seconds… literally.
