Podtacular Episode 171: Multiplayer Tips and Map of the Month: Avalanche
for the week of November 30th, 2008

(Hosts: Dust Storm, Cryptoflix, BrentGamer)

Chasesaw

Hey, this is my first time submitting. I’ve been listening since around
episode 125.

I have a tip today for Avalanche. It might be hard to explain so bear with
me. This is a good hiding spot when defending the base.
When you spawn inside the base, the teleporter is on one of the sides.
Opposite of it is a walkway on the far left down towards the bottom half of
the base. On the sides are ledges, you can jump up on them and crouch-walk
to the top. I rarely get spotted when I hide up there. :)

Well that’s my tip. Keep on fraggin’ people that need Firefox to spell
right.

Longrange950

Hey podtacular this is Longrange950 sending in for the first time. Most
people would remember me from my voice mails. Well anyways, on to
Advalanch. In advalanch, it is key to have a “special assault rifle” with
you. With it being huge and all it would be hard to use a regular rifle
effectively. When you can, get into a hornet/ banshee, it is needed for
quick and devastating attacks. (especialy the hornet since it can carry 2
passengers. Lastly, use the teleporter to get into the enemy base. I found
out that it is a two-way teleporter. Keep on fraggin noobs who keep trying
to frag nay-nay because he will not give them anus armor. I would also like
to give a shout-out to BigBoy480 and Superace47. (sorry if i misspelled
advalanch)

stallmeplease

Hey guys it is stallmeplease, and I am back with a few tips for Avalanche.
First off this map was built around ctf. I am always a defensive player on
ctf. I grab the special AR and some plasmas. I stay back on the ledge of
the base that leads to the sniper spawn. This allows a clear shot to the
people coming out of room and It gives me a good view of vehicles on the
main tundra. If you can get 2 or 3 more people to defend with you, you’ll
have a rock solid defense. Thats my tip for avalanche. Keep on fraggin
Cyrpotflix because I am going to steel his watch tonight. Stallme out.

JGW Antwon

Hello everyone, I have a tip for you on avalanche. If you are playing
neutral bomb have two people take a warthog and have another person take
the Hornet to go get the bomb. The people who aren’t in a vehicle go to the
other base for support. Use the vehicles to hopefully take out the other
team, then when it’s all clear have someone grab the bomb and jump into the
Hornet. Then drive the hornet up to the side of opponent’s base and drop
the bomb person off. That’s when the guy who wasn’t in a vehicle goes into
the base to help clear it out. Use the Hornet to defend the bomb carrier.
This works for me almost every time.

Shoutouts to UnbuitToast and Mainiac, you guys rock!

P.S If you want a spell checker for internet explorer download the google
toolbar, it comes with spell check. Hope I help everyone with spelling
issues if you use IE.

Keep on fraggin little screaming 10 year olds.

l ninjaman59 l

Hey, Podtacular peeps. It’s the ninja with a plan, Ninjaman. I have a
general tip for this week. I use this technique quite often. What I do is I
throw a grenade at their feet and then special assault rifle on their
heads. This technique is quite effective at dispatching enemies.(Advanced
Vocabulary) Well, that is all I have for this week. This is the ninja with
a plan, see you guys online. Shout-outs to my girlfriend, <3 u!

Lone Soldier332

What’s up, Podtacular? I’ll tell you what’s up:

Avalanche. Ah, one of my favorite maps, next to Last Resort. What I find
to be the most annoying tactic for Avalanche is to change your color to
white. You’ll be near impossible to see, and will keep you well hidden when
sniping. Near the middle of the map, you will come across an active camo
pick-up. And once again, because of the snow, you will be impossible to
see.

Vehicle control is a neccesity on this large map. Always have two people
in your Warthog at least. Too many people make the mistake that the Hornet
is the most important vehicle. But this is false. As soon as you kill two
players, you will become the prime target. At that point, the Hornet is
useless. Using the Scorpion can also be a real turning point in a game. If
you do choose to drive the Scorpion, see about getting someone in the
gunner seat. He will definately be usefull when the enemy team attemts to
jack your ride. The Mongoose is a definate no-no. They can be usefull for
quick transport, but always steer clear from transporting the bomb or flag
carrier. You’re just a sitting duck for any weapon, mainly rockets and
Warthogs.

What I enjoy is to have two of my teammates in a Warthog, while one other
player attacks from the Scorpion, and I snipe from the back bridge, as the
color white. The Warthog will flush enemies out, while I snipe them, and my
buddy in the Scorpion takes out any enemies in the Hornet and/or opposing
Warthog.
Well, that’s all I’ve got for this submission. Shoutouts to the DARS crew,
Usedzombies, and Nay-Nay.

Keep on fraggin Lamborghinis (pronounced lamb-bor-gi-ni)

Hey Podtacular

This is my submission for Avalanche. ( Of course .. : /) Anyways. This
Map is all about Map control and Weapons Control. 4 weapons are key to win
in this. Sniper, Laser, Br, and rockets. This map is full of Warthogs and
hornets and the ghost. Another tip is not to fight by yourself. this map is
too big to be alone cause you can get sniped, or lasered if you don’t have
call outs. Final tip is dont rush with ALL good vehicles at the start, get
the laser and kill the enemies, then you do as you wish. thats all i got
for tips. Love the Podcast, Keep on Fragging players that cry about getting
achievements during the game.

FAYNUS

A tip that I find useful for Avalanche CTF involves a vehicle, and the
portal. You basically just drive any vehicle (that can fit in your base)
into your base and park it in front of your portal. This will “Block” the
portal and prevent enemy entry via the portal. Just remember to enter the
vehicle occasionally to prevent it from disappearing.

the neenja penguin

hey podtacular, long time listener, first time submitter, here to help up
you K/D ratio, i have made a haiku to talk about avalanche my favorite big
team map. avalanche is cold
rush the camo to win
scare newbies with the hornet.
anyway here are a few tips. remember when your near the slpazer spawn (in
the middle of the map theres a cave its in there) watch out for footprints,
if you see footprints appearing infront of you for no apparent reason. That
would be a invisible guy trying to be stealthy you just chuck a grenade and
own, the real way to do it is to jump when people are looking near you so
only a few footprints appear other wise just go in for the assassination ,
second if your in a hornet never, EVER get closer then the lowest man
cannon fan thing to the ground. All your doing is making it harder to
dodge that rocket our splazer and getting hijacked is actually possible
that way. Speaking of hornets remember you can seriously impress people in
a ctf game by letting the flag carrier get in the cannon connecting the
base to the ground and in midair picking them up not only does it look
awesome it will probably stop that guy waiting at the landing spot with a
rocket lawn-chair. Now time for a tip to ninja up your game, you can
actually stand on top of the icicles sticking out of the ground just look
for very small out croppings so you can jump up get to the top o frag f
them. Also a popular hiding spot to use in the heat of combat is in the
shotgun spawns you can stand in the corners very useful to hide to get your
shields back our to line up a stick.
well thats all keep on giving penguins grenades so they can frag the
trucks of those people that are polluting the ozone

Green bagger52

Hi Green bagger52 here (Green bag-ger-52), all I can say is that if you
have th Spartan Laser and a Warthog goes by sucks for them, but it is the
other way is they have it. Also, I can own with the sniper one this map,
so I recommend that you go for that on the hill in the middle of the map,
where the door is that has a passage that is next to each base. Last, this
podcast is talking about the online play, but I think this map is a good
forge map, not as good as Foundry. Thats all, shout outs to Steakeater10,
Team Woot, MVP or Phoenix410, Parris, and all the people at the newly made
talkingaboutgames.net. Keep on Fragin.

TeamRK nub

Hey guys, TeamRK nub is here with a couple beastly tips for the
map:Avalanche(say in a big scary voice) 1. If it is a multi-flag game then
always use the hornet to capture the flag, just cause you can fly very
high, and the hornet is very durable. If it is slayer, always use
vehicles. If it is 1 flag, and you are on Defense, set up warthogs on top
of ur flag

Keeep on fraggin americans and teebaging little kids who scream.

TEAMRK FTW

White Lite_1

hey, it’s me White Lite again for the big team on avalanche episode. I
have two tips. The first is to take the teleporter when you spawn and get
the rockets. Wait a little bit so that the other team can get the the
center tunnel. Tell your team to clear and shoot two of your rockets in
the hole to kill many people. The second is to take the teleporter and get
the turret. Jump off the man cannon next to you and flag jump with the
turret to the center man cannon. Go off it and wreak havock with your
turret in the center. Keep fraggin’ midget trucks with rabbid bananas.
