Podtacular Episode 132: Multiplayer Tips with Map of the Month: Guardian
for the week of October 23rd, 2007

(hosts foo mo, JVB, Terminator Llama)

introductions

Hey pod dudes just recently started listening to your show and i must say between the
weird voice imitations and the bizar jokes involving wet towels and
kangaroos it is a very enjoyable hour
anyway just wanted to make a few comments about some of the weapons on
halo 3 ive noticed that dual SMGs are much more powerful in halo 3 and i find my
self more often then not dropping my AR and picking up these deadly bullit
hoses tearing through the covys on campaign. they seem to take down enemy
shields much faster and it is very funny to watch a grunt wobble back and
worth as i unload a full clip followed by an acrobatic back flip over a
box or cliff.in terms of aesthetic views the gun looks excellent. when
firing the muzzle lights up magnificently and really gives you the feeling
that you have a weapon that could possibly be as powerful as a brute shot
or AR. another weapon that i enjoy alot is probably the covy rocket
launcher. throughout the campaign on legendary i loved standing at a
distance with full ammo in a covenant rocket launcher and firing 6 or 7
shots of into a large group of grunts and brutes watching there unoccupied
ghosts flip over in a flaming onslaught of carnage and death. this weapon
is definetly one of my favorites in halo 3 and my friends always ask me
when playing co-op why i carry it around even though its out of ammo. i
usually respond “dude look how freakin cool it looks, don’t even tell me
if you had one of these in real life you wouldn’t carry it around
regardless of ammo and straight up hit guys in the face with it come
on”. anyway i would go on about other weapons but i don’t want to carry
on and on maybe next time awesome show THE ZIPSTER
keep fragin towel whipping kangaroos from Ethiopia
what ever that really means

Hey!
First time submission! I am thoroughly impressed with the whirlwind
sensation that is Halo 3, and am swept off my feet by its epic story. But
like most of my fellow fans, I know that the true lasting power of Halo 3
will be in its expansive and very unique multiplayer. So when you are
through with the walk to grandma’s house that Sierra-117 is, step into my
jungle… the multiplayer that is! I have enjoyed Halo multiplayer since
I was addicted to Halo CE for PC, and bought an Xbox way back in nursing
school. Wanna know how to dominate your next Multiplayer experience? Halo 3
hasn’t changed since Halo CE.
1 Watch your Radar. Lack of 3rd person view makes it hard to look over
your shoulder, so use the radar, and anticipate others using it; When you
notice them, stand still around corners and let them come to you.
2 Keep moving. Be the shark. People who dwell, picking over weapons or
ammo, never get the chance to use them because they get owned by sharks
like me. Be the shark. This isn’t Socom or Chess, you have to keep
mobile and loose.

3 Learn the Halo Trinity!!! Fire, Frag, Melee. Dual wielding is a bad
choice unless grenades are off, or you can’t hit crap. A well aimed BR
trumps Dually Plasma Rifles/SMGs even in tight quarters. Learn to settle
for only those head shots. The reason Duallies will get you killed, is
becase it erases two of the trinity from your arsenal. You can’t
buttstroke ‘em or stick ‘em. Better than half of my kills in close
quarters combat aren’t decided with a gun. Lead with a frag, fire, then
melee them when you close in. If they survive, frag them again, a lot of
kills from the grave are achieved this way.
Halo 3 Slaps a pretty coat of paint on an already well refined combat
system, and these are the fundamentals. Of course there are many other
tricks I learned the entirely hard way at the mercy of players far
superior to myself, but this is the foundation that will lead you to
victory every time. All in all, an awesome game that I will Play for as long as I have played
Halo CE, (4+ years), no doubt. To start a clan I made a group and plugged you FuMoJive and JVB, so heres
a plug for my group, “Naval Special Warfare”. I love what you guys do
here on the show, so keep on fraggin trucks, trains, planes, automobiles
and whatever else you find convenient!

ok here is a tip. instead of using short bursts with the assault rifle,
just rapidly tap the R trigger. it does the same thing as short bursts but
is faster. never EVER assume a player who has a lower rank/skill level than
you is a noob. im only a Sergeant Grade 3, and i am better than a lot of
captains. this is HereticZeta (new GT) signing out

Hey Guys, i have a few multiplayer tips that might come in handy from the
experiences I’ve had so far. The first is to always remember to use
grenades. It may sound stupid, but far to many times I’ve seen people
charging in for a beat down when they could easily use a grenade. I know
that sometimes you might run out, but when the floor is littered with
them, I know you have one.
The second tip is to use the energy drainer like a grenade. Throwing it
ahead of you or around corners and seriously cripple your foes and let you
get an easy kill. Some other easy tips are to always reload after an encounter, with a
mauler or shotgun, the RT B combo is deadly, and the last is to never go
into a match cocky because the other team doesn’t appear to be as good as
you.

I’m not that good on Guardian but the one tip i can give is to use the 2
blue lifts at the bottom of the level. If you use them correctly, you can
deal out massive damage on a team who isn’t paying attention.
Keep up the good work guys and a quick shout out to all my Rec E homies.

Hey Casualterror here. I don’t really have a tip about Guardian I have a
question. Am I the only one who has hit that weaker man-canon and you
don’t quite make it to the center area. Bungie Please fix that. I’m tired
of falling in that spot. Oh here a cool thing I found out. You know those
flying animals in the background did you know that you can shot and kill
them.

Alright, let’s see what we have here, tips and Guardian, eh? Personally,
when I play some Team Slayer on Guardian, i start out going for the sniper
and then stickies and needler. With this combo, you have the ability to
quickly dispatch enemies from a distance. One more thing, do NOT try for
the Hammer unless you spawn near the sniper.

General Tips: It all depends on the level, if the level is small or all
the fighting takes place in one central area, then try and get a BR or
something of that magnitude and go for them from a relatively safe
distance. If that fails, spam nades or get a shotgun. Try not to get
stuck, though, if you use the sniping tip. Maps that apply to this tip
are: Guardian, and maybe Epitaph.
Otherwise, on medium sized maps, try to get a BR or sniper, once again,
and snipe from a distance. On maps with two kinds of power weapons
(sword, rockets, flamethrower, etc.), go for at least one. If you can get
your hands on rockets, only use them as a “I’m going to die anyways, might
as well take someone else with me!” situation. Maps that apply:
Construct, The Pit, High Ground, Last Resort, Snowbound
Finally, the large maps. With these comes vehicular combat, which is very
tough most times. On these levels, if you can get a sniper, rockets, or a
Splazer, you’ll be fine. Try and stay away from the Mongoose, though,
their quite hard to control if you haven’t practiced with them before. Maps that include: Valhalla, Sandtrap, and Isolation.

That’s really it, I guess, except an easy way how to pull off the moving
headshot is to practice the sniping part of The Ark.

Shout-outs to Corona and unr3al, keep having no shields!

Whats up Podtacular, finally the episode i have been waiting for. i think
guardian is a great map but its deffinitley not lockout. i have various
strategies for this map. theres 4 weapons that you should pick up as
secondarys. number 1 get the shotty if you spawn near it. 2. the mauler
works great because around corners its easy to counter an AR. 3. the grav
hammer is effective if you are a camper in the area with the gravity
elevator thing. and 4th the needler can get the job done also esspecially
when you are getting hosed in the center square, i find it effective to
pump a crapload of needlers and then once your clip is out throw in a
grenade. i have never done any team objective games on hear but lone
wolves is fun with objectives. im not a big fan of just ffa slayer on this
map because there are so many people (including my self) playing cleanup
crew and getting cheap double kills. this map also works great with a game
variant my friend made pirates vs ninjas. its prolly already out there but
it s a ton of fun his gamertag is death weapon141. its on his file share.
well thanks podtacular, my gamertag is MeechiganBoy (no spaces) so hit me
up on xbl.

Hey guys! Bunny here. I have some tips for one bomb assault or one flag
CTF. They fall into 2 categories: Tips for if you are stuck on a team comprised of you and a bunch of total
dumb expletive deleted s, and Tips for being on a coordinated team.

If you are on a team with some really stupid people, get a mic and tell
everyone to STAY TOGETHER. Then just pray that they are good enough to at
least stay alive. If they turn out to be good followers, perhaps even try
some basic strategies, such as flanking.

If you are on a very good, coordinated team, you should not need many
tips, but here are some strategies to help you Pwnz0rs all. If you are on
defense, set up a trap. Have someone grab a power drain and drop it when
the enemy goes in for the flag/bomb. Then, coordinate fire with the rest
of your team (preferably from a higher altitude) and blast them. This
works excellently if someone has a brute shot. As for offense, simply
surround the flag or bomb carrier and he will be un-damageable.

Hope that helps guys! Keep on fraggin’ truckloads of noobs.

Hey guys it’s llama with a sweet tip for 1-sided VIP on HIgh ground. When
you are on offense and spawn at the beach, jump into the atv and drive up
to rockets. Pick up rockets and then make your way to the invisibility and
become invisible. Then crouch walk through the pipe into the base and camp
until you can get a shot at the VIP. This strategy was created by
Samanator and I’m just sending it in. Hope it works for you.

PS. I’m working on the one-footed-purple-bellied squirrel.

A quick sword tip is when versing someone else who has the sword (Team
swords or ffa swords), dont use the lunge(left trigger) attack. Use melee.
If you clang, you can attack faster, thus leading to easy wins. Also, if
thats too hard for you, jump back. People usually swing the second they
arent frozen, and since you’re out of their redicule, you do not get hit.

-Facehead

Right where the sniper spawns is like the best place to snipe. Just crouch
jump up to the ledge above you to get a view of the top, and then drop
down behind you to get a view of the bottom. It’s always a good itea to
pick up the Mauler/Carbine near there too incase someone comes from the
sides.

Hey guys, DoG Argine here with a TS tip for Gaurdian. When you get
this map you have to think of spawns. Mainly the Sniper vs Grav Hammer
Spawn. If you spawn at the yellow lift, someone on your team is most
likely going to get gravity hammer. This seems like a good idea at the
time, but if you dont send someone over the top of the level to distract
the opposing team, you’ll be easy pickins for the sniper on the other end
of the hallway. Nades work well in this standoff, have one man chuck nades
down their end whilst you go along and get the hammer. If you can keep
your self alive in this Grav Hammer-Sniper Battle, you can go around
pishin people off with your mad gravity controlling skills.

Hoped the tip Helped. Keep on Fraggin Banna Hammocks.

I have a super tip for all the halo 3 fans out there…. Don’t use the
flamethrower. I know this by experience. Once I was in a team slayer game
on construct and I spawned near the flamethrower, I picked it up. I jumped
up the grav lift. At the top my entire team was fighting the enemy. I just
stared spraying my foe. I ended up betraying my entire team due to the
“sticky” flames before dieing myself. so the lesson here is, dont play
with fire. PS in lone wolves it is ok to use it, you have no one to
betray.

so … i loved lockout but i realy dont like this map.
Its ok if were talking about suff like mlg because there is really no long
distance combat
its all grenades and Brs, its hard to find Brs in this map so inless you
start with them you have a wide range off wepons to use like the
gravityhammer (yikes)
A good tip i could give you for this map is as soon as you start the game
go to the camo it is a fast way to get 2 or 3 kills befor everyone else
also pick up a mauler or a shotgun located in the green room or a
mauler whitch are kinda just scattered around the map to increase
firepower wile invisable

thanks hope you play this on the show!
also im really trying to get into the community more so a friends request from some one that does the clans or foo mo (ya right) whould help me increase
my halo 3 expearance. once again my name is vicknecchiarino
keep on sickin mongosses!

Tip: Just like Halo 2, the BR reticule has a small dot in the middle when it is centered on the head. Watch for it.

Plasma Pistol Bolt plus vheicle = disabled vheicle. This combo gives you a great chance to jack the vheicle.

Don’t ask for people in matchmaking to help you get achievements. It’s lame, and undermines the achievements system.

Flip the elephant by running it up a wall. Gotta love the ‘flip’ message.

If you get to the Spartan Lazer in valhalla first, you’re almost guaranteed free regin with a worthog.

The mauler is OP (overpowered) one shot at close range plus a melee is a quick death.

Ninjaball is awesome to play on sandtrap or construct.

On construct, the sword spawn is a great place for the non zombies to meeat and make a stand.

When playing zombies, a team of two non zombies can last a while while one has a sword, and one has a BR/Assault riffle The sword man duels with the zombies, which takes the zombie shields down, and the BRT guy finishes them off.

The hyubasa armor looks really awesome. But it also looks like a power range reject. So wear with care.

The missle pod locks on now, but the rockets don’t anymore. So watch it.

The best way to beat a wraith is to beat the driver death.

It is my experience that while you are in a wraith and being jacked, you can’t get out. Perhaps it’s just me?

The needler sucks no longer, huzzah!

Sup Podtacular, its AERO Strik3 again( Ohs nos!). Anyway I got a
multiplayer tip for you guys. When someones shooting at you from behind
with a close-range weapon like the assault rifle and you got a plasma or
spike grenade, dont try to run away, go ahead and turn around and take a
little step forward and throw that grenade. His forward motion along with
yours will increase the chance of your plasma grenade/spike grenade
sticking him. Even if you die along with him, at least you got a kill out
of it!

Hey guys, here’s a few tips for lone wolves on Guardian:
Always try to get a mauler, they are perfect for the close quarters
oriented gameplay of this map.
Try camping with dual maulers or the hammer at the needler spawn point.
Don’t be afraid to throw grenades; in fact, spam the place with those
things! You probably won’t run out of them since you always find them
lying around on the ground. Just chuck one around the corner whenever you
see a red dot approaching on your radar.
That’s all I got for now, great job with the podcast, and keep it up.

Hey Podtac! Here’s a tip for the crazy, azaming( I’ll always say that),and
flametacular Guardian. But note that since 2004, Lockout’s snowy ranges
have been affected by global warming quite badly, turning it into a rain
forest where ewoks and yeti hunters and squirrels live.
Anyway, notice that there is a part where you leave the hallways of the
locked out place. It heads to part of a giant tree. If you’re playing
zombies, hide here. It’s easy to get lost there. I myself am guilty of
it.

Also, guys, is you don’t mind, please promote my new gamiong and
entertainment community site. I adverise Podtac on the home page all the
time. Thanks!

When sniping I experimented with some of the helments, chest, and
shoulders. I found that certain helments help sniping, by like sticking
more to your enemies head. Some stick more to the chest. And some even
don’t stick at all. I should have taken notes about which one does what,
but I’ll see what I can do. Some you can tell there’s a big differance.
P.S. Even though Bungie said the armor is for looks only, TRUST ME IT’S
NOT.

If you know you aren’t good with a certain weapon…. DON’T PICK IT UP!
Example: Sniper, Brute Shot, Spartan Laser, Rockets, Sword, ect. Your
better off letting one of your teamate have it, sometimes. Personally I
suck with the Brute Shot, yet sometimes I still pick it up, even though I
shouldn’t.

To get to know how to handle a vechile better, if you know what I mean.
Just go into forge, change the party to invite only, and just drive the
vechile around the map. Preferably Sandtrap or Valhahalla. Just to get a
feel of the vechile. Know if you wanna make a U-turn should you make it
wide or twist your analog stick on your controller until your there.

Don’t rip off a turret when a Banshee is flying straigh toward you.
Because you have more control when it is stationary and unlimited ammo.
After you rip the Banshee to shreads, then tear the machine gun off and go
wreak havoc.

As a last resort when you know you are gonna die, chunk a grenade in you
enemies genral direction.

Don’t run around with spike grenades hoping to kill someone. The only way
of killing someone, with a spike grenade, without sticking them, is if the
enemy was standing right over the grenade. Most of the time that won’t
even kill them. The reason we use spike grenades in spikeball, not plasmas
or frags, because the kill radius for a spike grenade is so small. You
better off using a plasma to kill/stick someone. My favorite the frag,
because it has the biggest kill radius. Also use the games physics to help
you with grenades. For you 12 years old who haven’t taken physics yet. It’s
common sense for me, but you have to know if you through a frag at this
angle, it will go off in this direction. Once you take physics it all make
sense and you become better with gernades.

When using a sniper, in non shotty snipes gametypes, pick up a battle
rifle. So you may not make that head shot, but you hit their chest. Whip
out your BR and fire one shot. This makes for an easy kill if you miss the
head shot and don’t wanna waste another.

Just wanna say ya’ll are doing a great job. And shoutout to Chuckiej.

This is Swift Ninja1. This is my first time submitting(cause im a new
member) and first I’d like to say good job on the show. Also I have one
tip for the map: Guardian. Be careful not to throw grenades into the
teleporter thing that brings you up if your on top of it because they will
come back and blow you up.(This has happened to me many times.) Also real
quick I made an awesome forge map on Guardian which is on my file share.
It is called Teleport and has many teleporters around. You can play it on
any slayer game.

P.S. Shout out to Cajun Ace!

Hey Guys Nick again just a quick Guardian Tip for some quick gettaways. Ok
across from the oversheild spawn on the ledge you can jump at an angle and
hit the bottom walkway by Hammer Spawn. To be more specific go about 2 or 3
feet from were the ledge starts to go down then jump crouch. Its great for
when your running away from somebody.

PS. Keep up the great work, Podtacular. Your enjoyable and informative
show made Halo 2 a blast, and I’m sure it’ll do the same for Halo 3!

Hey this is my first send in. Anyway the best stratigy I’ve found here iss
to gran a carbine and a mauler. no one can touch you with an AR from range
while you eat them u with the Carb and if they get close give’m the good
ol’ shoot and whack with the mauler. Also always be aware of where the
invisibility is and don’t be afraid to use a gernade if you think you see
him. I love the podcast and keep fraggin’ trucks!

Hello, Podtacular. This is XazaX (Ah-Zah), or the person with one of the most confusing names on the planet. Here’s my tip for Guardian, or this months “map of the month”.

Considering Guardian has quite the bit of close-quarter combat, it’s best to dual-wield. I don’t really suggest anything, because everybody has their own special choice, but do what you wish.

Another helpful hint is to grab the infamous Gravity Hammer, as those tight corridors can be a pain in my behind. This is for all game types, really. The hammer really comes in handy on King of the Hill whenever you pop out the Bubble Shield and switch to the Gravity Hammer and blast them as they come in saying “HAMMER TIME!”. I do suggest a medium/long-ranged weapon such as the Battle Rifle, Assault Rifle, or Sniper Rifle as your secondary weapon. It’s for those instances that you need to leave the shield.

That’s all I have this time. “Keep on fragging trucks”, although Scarabs give you the most satisfaction to blow up with grenades.

ay this is DGX Ultimate. first time sending one of these in so ya first
timer. anyway in a lot of matches i see people shooting yet not throwing
grenades enough. people seem like there holding onto grenades for dear
life. i say use those grendades as much as u can. and dont hold bak on
anything. bout all i got. keep up podtacualr and all that good stuff

Wrap up

Until next time I’m Foo Mo Jive (and this is)
