Podtacular 277: Armor Lock Discussion

Download
You wanted it, you got it! We discuss armor lock in all of it’s glory and frustration. Being one of the most controversial things in Reach, there’s a lot to say: not just about armor lock, but armor abilities in general and how they have evolved in Halo. There exists a definite split between those who love armor lock and use it, and those who won’t even touch it with a 9-and-a-half foot pole. Joining in on the discussion is Kete from The Running Riot, Old Regime, Greenskull from Ready Up Live, and Slightly Live from Forward Unto Dawn. Enjoy your ears being assaulted for 2+ hours :)

Podtacular 276: MLG Columbus 2012 and Halo 4 Multiplayer Competitive Analysis

Download
The competitive scene is all excited about what was revealed in the Halo 4 news explosion this week: in particular, the return of the BR. However, the future of Halo making an appearance in the MLG Pro Circuit is on the fence. While 343i did appeal to the professional side of e-sports by introducing zero-bloom and bleed-through, there is a lacking presence in the Halo MLG scene. In this show, AnTi Pro from Boss Fight TV and Nak3d Eli from Nak3d Halo help discuss what is needed in Halo 4 to attract the competitive scene and the future of Halo in MLG this year. Enjoy

Podtacular 275: Bulletin Update

Download
The Halo Bulletin this week was filled with many questions that the community had regarding the information release on Halo 4 this week. Unfortunately, we weren’t graced with many answers as 343i is still holding some info up there sleeves. They can’t give us all the details just yet: where’s the fun in that? We did get a few solid pieces of information though which is the topic of discussion in today’s show. Enjoy

Let’s Play 20,000 Questions!

Get ready, because this week’s bulletin answers a Grunt-filled truckload of questions posed by the Halo Community. Of course not many details can be divulged at this point, but Frankie did give us some specific answers to some questions. The Covenant are making a return, there is not a “perks” system that is similar to any existing game system, there is no beta planned in the game build, and assassinations are back, baby! There are, of course, more pieces of information to take away from the bulletin, but we will discuss them in the next podcast. If you have any questions or thoughts about the reveal or bulletin, send us an e-mail (green button).

Dynamic Lighing in Halo 4

One of the things I haven’t seen discussed in great detail is something that was pointed out in IGN’s Rewind Theater. The dynamic lighting makes a big presence in the campaign and multiplayer aspects of the game. While global lighting will still be a factor in game, it looks like the graphics engine has gotten a major overhaul including enhanced real-time lighting effects. It will be interesting to see how this effects forged maps that are completely enclosed.

Podtacular 274: First Look at Halo 4

Download
Yesterday, the first bulk of Halo 4 news came spewing down the pipes of the internet. There were interviews, analyses, and of course the main attraction: the first look video released by 343i. Of course, we have our own opinions about what we saw. Most of what we watched or read yesterday was good news, but there were definitely a few talking points that has us cautiously optimistic. Joining us for our digest is Kete from The Running Riot and CMNeir and MidgetDance from Halo: Reach Tricks. Enjoy

Dissecting the “Making of Halo 4″ Video Documentary: Scoring System

Over the next few days and on our next podcast the hosts here at Podtacular are going to be breaking down the newly released video documentary / trailer that was released for Halo 4 this week. Look forward to our newest episode featuring other prominent community learders from around the Halo Universe. We recorded the episode last night and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it once we release it to everyone.

The first thing I am going to break down from the video are two tiny points in the game where the score changes for one team. Both of these clips show that the game type is BR Slayer and they pretty much show the same thing happening, a player kills another with the BR from the result of a headshot. I am going to link both of these two clips now.
