Bungie’s Past, Present, and Future
As 343 Industries transitions into power as our new Halo overlords, Bungie is closing the door on it’s beloved franchise and looking towards the future:
In the studio’s newest ViDoc, “O Brave New World”, Bungie employees and Halo community members provide a short history of Bungie and it’s initial ensemble of games from the 90′s (Marathon, Myth, etc.) before moving into a lengthier discussion of the Halo franchise’s history and development. If you have 55 minutes to spare, watching this would be a good way to spend them.
The Running Riot host Kete makes an appearance around the 29:15 mark!

These Aren’t the Sounds You’re Looking For
This week’s Halo Bulletin on Waypoint focuses on the new sounds we will see in Halo Anniversary. While it’s not a complete library of sounds, it does show the difference between the two and the nice sounding upgrades they all got. You can watch the videos on today’s Halo Bulletin. My personal favorite is the Rocket Launcher (or noob tube for the haters).

Win PAX Tickets From Halo Waypoint

Got another doozie here for you folks. Looks like the guys, and gals, from Halo Waypoint are giving away PAX Prime tickets everyday this week via their twitter account. All you have to do is submit a picture of yourself via twitter holding a sign that says ”I want Podtacular to go to Halo: Fest.” … No really submit a picture of yourself holding a sign that says “I want to go to Halo Fest” Selections are at random so please don’t go overboard with the pictures. Though I personally encourage it.
What is Halo Fest you ask? Well if you don’t check the homepage often, or if you live under a rock, it’s the 10 year anniversary celebration 343 is holding at PAX this year in Seattle on August 26th through the 28th. If you’d like to hear part 1 of our celebration check out the Halo Decade Show episode.

Halo Anniversary Kinect Integration Speculation

This may be old news but I just came across this today and I wanted to hear what our community thinks about Microsoft putting their Kinect into my Haloz. That’s right, MAI HALOZ. Eurogamer is reporting that Halo: Anniversary will have Kinect Functionality but it wont be groundbreaking, it appears to be something that would not really change gameplay but would add value to the product.
To be honest, I wouldn’t mind doing some virtual t-bagging on those elites. You know show’em whos teh bozz ’round MAI HALOZ. Not everyone seems to be excited about the potential of this marriage but I want you guys to be creative and come up with some cool Kinect Functionality you would pitch to Microsoft. Post your thoughts and ideas in the comments below!
Halo: Faith Behind the Scenes Sneakpeak
Whoa do we have an awesome video in store for you people. In the last episode of Podtacular we talked a little about this project named Halo: Faith. If you did not catch the episode you can find it here. For those of you who are to lazy to listen though, Halo: Faith is a fan made MOVIE about the Halo Universe. Not much has been known about the project, with the producers turning on their active-camo, but this past weekend the crew released a very short sneak peak behind the scenes of the upcoming movie on their facebook page.
Needless to say we here at Podtacular cannot wait ’till the movie comes out. Here is a direct link to the video. AWESOME!

Halo Anniversary Tid-bits from this Past Week
This week, Waypoint gave us a few goodies regarding the upcoming Halo Anniversary. If you haven’t seen it by now, then here’s what’s going down. Earlier in the week, Waypoint announced a skull that would be available in the campaign for pre-orders: the Grunt Funeral skull. As one can imagine, the skull is very similar to the Grunt Birthday Party skull, but instead of confetti, it pulls it’s roots from the Halo 2 version of the skull where all grunts, when killed turn into plasma grenades. You can watch a video of it in action below.
The other bit of news is a video demo of the Halo Anniversary campaign in-action. It is very convincing that the physics and underlying code has remained untouched, so go check that out on Waypoint.

Microsoft to Acquire Skype
For everyone that follows the show, you know that we use Skype to talk to each other and record the show. An interesting bit of news came out today that Microsoft has entered into an agreement with Skype to acquire Skype for $8.5 billion (USD). Skype is one of the leading Internet communication services providing free and premium accounts to home and business users. As with all acquisitions, things are bound to change somehow. Question is, will we still get the same great service as we do with Skype right now, and what kind of integration they plan to do with their other services, like Outlook and Messenger.

April Fools Joke Becomes Reailty in Halo Chess
Last year on April Fools Day, Bungie teased that Halo: Reach would be all about chess and going back to roots of strategic gameplay. It was a great tease and people were actually a little sad that the game type wasn’t included in the game. Well guess again, because a year later, this April Fools has become reality and Bungie has released the gametype that will let you play chess in Halo: Reach. Achievement Hunter teased this feature in their latest Fails of the Weak and now have a “How To” video detailing how you can set up Halo to play chess.

Yes, I know this post is a little behind the news curve, but the fact that I work from 8:00 to 17:00 doesn’t help in posting announcements and news to the site. As the title suggests, 343 Industries officially announced today at E3 the Halo CE Remake and Halo 4. You can head on over to the Waypoint site to see the
