Dynamic Lighing in Halo 4
One of the things I haven’t seen discussed in great detail is something that was pointed out in IGN’s Rewind Theater. The dynamic lighting makes a big presence in the campaign and multiplayer aspects of the game. While global lighting will still be a factor in game, it looks like the graphics engine has gotten a major overhaul including enhanced real-time lighting effects. It will be interesting to see how this effects forged maps that are completely enclosed.

Dissecting the “Making of Halo 4″ Video Documentary: Scoring System
Over the next few days and on our next podcast the hosts here at Podtacular are going to be breaking down the newly released video documentary / trailer that was released for Halo 4 this week. Look forward to our newest episode featuring other prominent community learders from around the Halo Universe. We recorded the episode last night and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it once we release it to everyone.
The first thing I am going to break down from the video are two tiny points in the game where the score changes for one team. Both of these clips show that the game type is BR Slayer and they pretty much show the same thing happening, a player kills another with the BR from the result of a headshot. I am going to link both of these two clips now.
Waypoint Shows Us A First Look at Halo 4
Waypoint released their first behind the scenes look at the development of Halo 4. This includes a video that has been put up on YouTube and Waypoint. There are lots of little tid-bits in the video to take away, which we will be discussing tonight in our podcast. The key points that people will probably take out of this video are the changes they’ve made to Master Chief and his armor, the changes to the returning Battle Rifle, and the two multiplayer maps shown: Warhouse and Wraparound. We’re bound to see more news throughout the day, so stay tuned as we aggregate all the info.
In the meantime, Kiki Wolfkill was interviewed over at Game Trailers where we learn that Halo 4 takes place 5 years after the end of Halo 3. The game’s release is also marked for Holiday 2012, so it will probably be the best present you’ll get this year.

Live Login Vulnerabilities are Main Cause of Latest XBL Hacks
It’s never a good feeling knowing that a service that you use may be vulnerable to hackers. It’s even worse knowing how easy it is to do. According to Inside Gaming Daily, Eurogamer and AnalogHype have posted reports of findings behind the latest Xbox Live hacks. Essentially, hackers use your gamertag to find profiles on other websites that you have linked your gamertag with and use the associated e-mail address as a base to see if it is your live ID. Then, through scripting and other means of automation, hackers “brute-force” your password and gain access to your account, where they can do untold damage, especially if you have a credit card on file with Microsoft.
Best word of advise I can give in a situation like this, use a strong password, including lower/UPPER case letters, numbers, and special characters and no words or easily identifiable numbers (Wikipedia). One other thing that frustrates me a little about live accounts is that the max password length is 16 characters, but that’s typically long enough for the casual user.
Halo: CE Anniversary Review
JVB has been kind enough to write a review on Halo Anniversary that releases tonight at midnight. There are some nice little tid-bits in it, so take a read.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Review
Ten years ago, Microsoft and Bungie studios released Halo Combat Evolved for a new console called Xbox. It was a launch title that would help the Xbox become a legitimate player in the console market, and the reason why the First Person Shooter genre made a successful transition from PC to home console. An engaging science fiction story, about courage, survival, and sacrifice — with good visuals, AI, and level design. And you can see why many Gamers lost nights of sleep playing 4-player coop, and LAN Parties.
